Movie: Dwaraka (2017)

Director: Srinivas Ravindra

Cast: Vijay Devarakonda, Pooja Jhaveri

Music: Sai Karthik

Dwaraka is a 2017 Indian Telugu drama film directed by Srinivas Ravindra (MSR), produced by Pradyumna Chandrapati and Ganesh Penubotu, under Legend Cinema , and is presented by R. B. Choudary under the banner Super Good Films. It features Vijay Deverakonda and Pooja Jhaveri in the lead roles while Prakash Raj and Prudhviraj appear in crucial roles. After succes of Pelli Choopulu Vijay is staring in Dwaraka and lets see what Sai Karthik has done to the music.

1. Bhajare Nanda Gopala

Singers: K.S.Chitra & Chorus
Lyrics: Rahman
Rating: 4.5/5

The first song is a devotional title song sung by evergreen singer Chitra. The way she sings makes listeners travel in a trans. Chitra's voice has an ethreal quality and she makes use of it in full extent. This is a song on lord Krishna and sounds like the song in Mukunda(Gopikamma), it may be due to the same singer. When ever Chitra is onto the play she just mesmarises everyone and fulls the listeners into her state of trans, such is the singing in this song. What can anyone speak about when Chitra mam is their for looking after the vocal part?, so she is simply amazing. Next Sai Karthik does a fair job with the instrumentation, he uses kolatam beats , flute interludes etc to make the song sound grand and spectacular, the last 30 seconds kolatam beat interlude would be the highlight, but somehow resembels some old songs. Rahman's lyrics are fine and can be appreciated.

2. Adhire Dhada Puttinde

Singers: Sai Charan
Lyrics: Rahman
Rating: 2.5/5

This is some sort of peppy and freak out song when hero falls for the heroien.Sai Charan sounds little bit odd in the song, but ok, quiet tolerable. Sai Karthik gives some old tunes which are already used in 2000's. The Veena interlude is fine. Rahman(fame of Teenmaar-Gelupu Thalupulu) has done his job neatly without any extra thoughts. This song is routine and  passable.

3. Jantar Mantar

Singer: Saketh Komanduri
Lyrics: Rahman
Rating: 3/5

The third song is like a tounge twister. It again resembels like "Amma Thalle" from Komaram Puli, so we can conclude Sai Karthik resembles some others tune rather than giving his own. All praises should be to Rahman for writing the lyric for a hyper beat tune, however his lyrics also fade away with the peppy singing. SaKeth opens the song neatly but makes it flat when he just runs with the tune without proper clarity towards the words. In between he just sounds as if he is singing tamil or urudu, without proper clarity. So this is another song which can be kept into a routine category like the above song.

4. Enta Chitram Kada

Singer: Sameera Bharadwaj
Lyrics: Rahman
Rating: 4/5

Finally Sai Karthik gives a track which is of his own. What a composition, what a tune? excellent!! Sai Karthik makes it more intresting when he adds classical veena and beautiful flute in the interlude, then rest of the song has nice beats, very plesant to listen. The vocal provided by Sameera is angelic, but however that feel is lost when she utters few telugu words in different manner as if she is from tamil. She says "Mullu" for "Mulu", she sounds as if she is very new to Telugu language instead of singing many songs in reality shows like Super Singer-9 and recording songs in films like Sarinodu , Kerintha etc. But this song is fine, all her mistakes are covered by Karthik's plesant tune. Rahman gives apt lyrics, but somewhere resembles Sitarama Sastry garu.

5. Allabi Allabi

Singer: Revanth, Divija Kartic
Lyrics: Rahman
Rating: 3.5/5

Rotine party song, again Sai Karthik comes to his routine. Full out and out mass song, the drum beats at second interlude tell us why it would be out and out mass song. Vocals provided by Divija and Revanth are ok. When singer like Revanth is called for vocals why should they on the auto-tuner, Revanth has an amazing voice why to spoil that beautiful voice by adding Auto-tuner? maybe to sound youthful, I guess. Divija was very creeky and suit to the song and Revanth comes atlast, but we cannot feel his voice due to the auto-tuner. Overall its just a routine party song. Every song is routine in this album nothing new. But Rahman must be critically acclaimed due to his versatality, he is the solo lyricist in the card writing variety of genres.

Picks Of The Album: Bhajare Nanda Gopala & Enta Chitram Kada

OVERALL RATING: 6/10

Remarks: Sai Karthik delivers all routine tunes in the album and finds no space for himself to be praised. He can be appreciated only for the rich instrumentation in Bhajare and Enta Chitram Kada songs. Bhajare song sounds routine inspite of veteran Chitra at the vocals, that is due to the resemblance in the tune. Enta Chitram song is only the saving grace all over the album. Rahman must be really praised for showcasing his versatality , he proves he can write any genre, might be classical, melody, mass, peppy, trendy etc.
