Mostly reviewing epics require knowledge. But listening to this songs makes us knowledgeable, such was the feel listening to this epic. L.Vaidyanathan sir has given amazing music, by the time the movie got released he passed away. Even Veturiji passed away before the film got released but this epic would remain as their one of the finest works before their unfortunate demises.

We can have no right in reviewing such great legendary works, but I'll share my opinion and experience when I heard the songs.

01. Niliche Sathyam

Singers: Dr K.J.Yesudas & Vijay Yesudas
Rating: 5/5

The first song is all about the grandeur and great majesty of Lord Rama and his kingdom. This is like an introduction song to the audience about the great epic "Ramayanam". Who else can write this song other than Veturiji. He has written all the things that takes us into the period where Lord Rama lived. "Niliche sathyam, nadiche dharmam sri raghu ramuni avataram" this line is enough to show his greatness in writing lyrics. If that was about lyrics, nothing more to speak about music, because it had all elements which would make the song sound devotional and mesmarising. Vaidyanathan ji has used all those tabala, violens, veena and slight mridangams to make the song apt for hearing. The second interlude led by fast beats of tabala stands as highlight of the song. After all this, it is a very risky job for any singer to sing this type of song, as it had heavy ranges, good vocabulary and high pitch sustaining notes. But both singers, Yesudasji and Vijay make it sound easier and soulful. I guess, probably there cannot be any singer in replacement who could sing this song in that perfect sync in which they both have sung.Yesudasji has got the first stanza and last stanza to sing and left everything to Vijay yesudas, where Vijay has given a powerhouse performance. It was treat listening to both, Sr.Legend and Jr.Legend excelled at their vocal parts in this song.

02. Ramayana Divya Katha

Singers: K.S.Chitra & Sadhana Sargam
Rating: 4/5

A song sung by lava Kusa which tells the tale of Lord Rama. We have heard this song in Lava Kusa movie, sung by Leelaji and Susheelaji. But here we have different music composed by Vaidyanathan ji which exactly suits to the situation. He has given different genres of music for different emotions which is carried out well by the lyrics. Nevertheless Veturi garu lyric excells with all those beautiful emotions he carries through out his lyric, the standard he maintains while writing the words is simply outstanding. For a change song is sung by veteran Chitra & Lilting Vocal Sadhana. Both of them do a very fair job, but Sadhana could'nt sing with as ease as Chitra does. Chitra was perfect in singing as well as diction, but Sadhana sounded odd with Chitra, but however she never made a mistake in singing the lyric. Which should be appreciated. Overall song leaves a good feel on listening.

03. Sri Raghu Ramuni Kathalu

Singers: K.S.Chitra & Sadhana Sargam
Rating: 5/5

The song which is a continuation to the above song, this is a lengthy track which sums upto 6 minutes 45 seconds. No need of saying about Vaidyanathan's music and Veturiji's lyric. They were outstanding in their fields. This song required variety of expressions than the above one. Chitra and Sadhana sounded outstanding. Need not to say, this time Sadhana too sounded equally as good as Chitra. The expression carried by both of them is unbelievable , they just sounded amazing, needless to say. When the phrases "Seetha Naa pranama, sunyamaye jeevithamu, sulamaye virahamu seetha leni jeevithamu sidhilamayina alayamu", sounded marvelous and stupendous. Both singers took away our heart, the expression given by Chitra is really spell bounding. The song ends at the line "Modalaye Hanumath Bhagavatham" and continues with the next song.

04. Rama Nama Mahima

Singers: Shankar Mahadevan & Chorus
Rating: 5/5

The song which is sung by  out of love to Rama, I guess. It tells us about the story of Rama after Seetha is taken away by the demon Ravana. Iam bored of speaking about the two legends at music as well as lyrics, they did their parts very well. Shankar Mahadevan, the most underrated singer in India. This song will tell you why Shankar has been the most loved singer in India. The range that Shankar sings in is simply dangerous, he sounds more than out standing. From the end till the end of the song you will be having goosebumps listening to Shankar's voice. When all the departments, like music, lyrics and vocalists provide excellence this would be the result. Hats off to Vaidyanathan sir, Veturi garu and Shankar mahadevan.

05. Om Shanti Ugraroopa Hanuma

Singers: Shankar Mahadevan & Chorus
Rating: 5/5

A song about Hanuman. When it comes to Hanuman, the word which strikes our mind is about his spirit and energy. This song has those two qualities in bulk. It is known that Hanuman does'nt know how much energy he has, i.e. he himself is not aware of his  strength, like Hanuman is this Shankar Mahadevan. the way he sings is simply out standing. We will fall in short of words to praise Shankar Mahadevan. You will understand why I have to praise Shankar that much. What a voice, what an expression, what a range, what a diction? SHankar Mahadevan take a bow. 5/5 is only for Shankar.

06. Rhythm Of Warrior Twins

Instrumental
Rating: 5/5

A small instrumental lasting upto 55 seconds which is very well composed. Vaidyanathan has used all those horns, trumpets, drums etc which depict the scenario of a war.

07. Rhythm Of Rage

Instrumental
Singers: Chorale
Rating: 5/5

This seems to be like a continuation to above war scenario. It lasts upto 3:15 minutes. Nothing to speak about, same instruments, same grandeur and gusture which supports the war scenes and is used as a background score. The chorus is there to hymn or alaap in between.

08. Hari Om Hari

Singers: Chorale
Rating: 4/5

Same thing like the above, but here the chorus hymns Hari Om Hari Om, and have few lines of lyrics to sing.

Picks Of The Album: It is very difficult to pick one favorite, so entire album would be my answer.

OVERALL RATING: 9.5/10

Remarks: A epic will always remain as epic, legends will always remain as legends. Let this last work done by two fine artists- Veturi & Vaidyanathan be evergreen and ever lasting. To make you all remember who is Vaidyanathan, you can check music of Malgudi days, the starting music "Tana tana tam" is composed by Vaidyanthan ji.
