The soundtrack was composed by Gopi Sundar with 3 songs and 1 instrumentals, lets see what they have done to the songs.

1. Pulimurugan Theme Music

Singers: Gopi Sundar
Lyrics: B.K.Harinarayan
Rating: 4.5/5

The first song is an energetic background song sung by Gopi Sundar himself. There is lot of emotion and intensity in the song, the beats are hyper giving goosebumps to the listeners. The music was something special, the instrumentation was awsome, Gopi used some throathy beats or drums to catch the situation and mood. The music is completely in sync with the visuals. Gopi went on chanting "Murugan murugan Pulimurugan" throughout the song, but Gopi would have brought more intensity in his voice which would make it more apt, however it was fine to be enjoyed.

2. Kaadaniyum Kalchilambe

Singers: K.J.Yesudas & K.S.Chitra
Lyrics: Rafeeq Ahmed
Rating: 5/5

What else anyone can expect if two legends are put together in one song, Dasettan and Chechi. What a rendition, what an expression, What a voice?!! take a bow sir and mam. The song can no way be better, it is in its right form or the singers took it into right place where it belongs. This generation is really lucky yet to have listened to Chechi & Dassettan combo. When we here to this song we will know why they have been respected since past few decades in all over Kerala and India as legendary singers. Yesudas ji was really soothing and ever sweet. Chitra was nasal as she was never before and the expression in second stanza, "My God!!" who else can? Probably one and only Chitra maa, she knows where she has to express well and thats the reason she has been a queen of singing and expression in all 4 south-indian states and also now in bollywood, she is no less than Lataji and Asha ji and has to be placed in top 1 female singer in India as she has no language or genre barrier. And what can we speak about Yesudas ji? He is a legend. Gopi has given right music suiting to the village or forest atmosphere. Lyric was very pleasant to hear. This excells in all aspects.

3. Manathe Maarikurumbe

Singers: Vani Jayram
Lyrics: Murukan Kattakada
Rating: 5/5

An emotional song. Dont know what would be the reason for such high emotion in the song, but one can expect there is lot of emotion and intensity in the song. Gopi shows why he is a National-award winning Indian musician, what an instrumentation? I was awstruck listening to the instrumentation. He uses a mild meloncholic flute all over the song and a heavy drum beat which maintains the emotion throughout the song. Murukan lyrics were heart touching. Vocals provided by Vani maa are simply amazing, the emotion she carried throughout the song, shows why she has been one among India's best singers for all time. Listening to her voice really makes anyone cry, It would have best visuals to depict the emotion. Vani Jayram after so many days, makes her song, which is completely owned by her voice throw and emotion. It was amazing.

4. Pulimurugan Entry Music

Instrumental
Rating: 4/5

A small instrumental lasting for just 13 seconds , used as entry music for Mohanlal. Gopi is a promisisng music director and a complete music director, this is proved from this film, though the songs are very short in number as well as length, is enough to prove his capability.  It involves some heavy drums and some fight sounds and a recorder.

Picks Of The Album: Entire Album

OVERALL RATING: 9.2/10

Remarks: Gopi must be lucky to be associated in a highest grossing malayalam film in Indian history nearly 90.1 crore in Kerala itself. Though the music has nothing much to do with this film, he has given his best. Might be working at BGM. And we have to thank Gopi for bringing the legends together, Yesudas-Vani Jayram-Chitra in one album, it has been a very long time listening to all of them together, though we hear Chitra and Yesudas very frequently, it has been long time listening to Vani maa. I wonder how these legends Yesudas and Chitra yet get their due in latest films even if everybody is chanting Arijith/Shreya Ghoshal/ Yo Yo Honey singh? Probably that is their dedication towards their work. For Chitra age is just a number, she sounds even more sweeter now, she is so versatile that she even finds space in almost 10 latest films in Mallu, 5 latest films in Telugu, Tamil & Kannada every year, like "Sugar finds its place in a glass completely filled with milk". I wish she should sing longer and longer(how ever she is my personnel favorite inspite of many other new singers). That proves they are legends. Let all of them sing more and more making our days and years.
