Duvvada Jagannadham or DJ is an upcoming Telugu romantic comedy film written and directed by Harish Shankar and produced by Dil Raju under his banner Sri Venkateswara Creations. The film stars Allu Arjunand Pooja Hegde in lead roles.

Devi Sri Prasad composes the film's music while Ayananka Bose handles the cinematography. Principal photography commenced in August 2016 in Hyderabad. Abu Dhabi was also a filming location; the production crew chose Abu Dhabi, as they would benefit from the Emirate's 30% rebate scheme.

The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on June 23rd 2017.

As I already mentioned in other reviews DSP is busy than any other music director in Telugu, he always tries to grab handful of chances every year irrespective of his success, how ever he is again accoladed with en-numerous awards the immediate next year for his works in yester year, there wont be any award function in telugu, without DSP getting his due, and there wont be any year without DSP's album, he must be really lucky to have such a dominance over one industry since past 17 years. DSP maintains his own standards while working to a project. We must be wondering how can DSP get plenty of fresh tunes with different rhythm patterns from song to song and from film to film. His every project has some fresh tunes with youthful exuberance. He never seems to influence any one in his works, he has his own styles, he has his own way of composing which is different from any other music director. We might find only DSP's trademark all over his albums but none others. So, is his level of dedication towards the work & hence he is successful enough in dealing with too many projects every year.

Now he has been roped with Allu Arjun's film after their successful combo in S/O Sathyamurthy. This combo of AA-DSP never fails to entertain us . Whether it is  Arya, Bunny,Happy,Arya2, Julai, Iddaruammayilatho, S/o Sathyamurthy and now DJ. They were successful in dealing with music as well as critically. So we can name this combo as Hit Combo. AA's yester films Sarianodu, Rudramadevi had good music by Thaman and Ilayaraja, now lets see what this hit combo has done to the film.

DSP has composed music to this film. DSP composed 5 songs, each one in different genre. They have released 2 songs on internet and 3 songs on june 11 and are planning  to organize an audio event at shilpa kala vedika with Chiranjeevi as cheif guest tonight. The songs on internet created records which we know very well. They released a 1M teaser of Gudilo Badilo song which shook the youtube, it recived so many positive reviews for its music, dance and visuals. It crossed 8 million views and is trending in youtube. The lyrical video too crossed 5 million views, so song was an instant hit. DSP brought different tunes with different lyricsits like Jonnavithula, Sahithi & Bhaskar Bhatla. Album even featured Chitra & Vijay Prakash at vocals surprisingly. Lets see, how they have fared the songs.

01. Saranam Bhaje Bhaje

The first song, is an intro song to the hero with full of energy, noise and devotion. To a pleasant surprise lyricist Jonnavithula is roped to a commercial film after so many years, "welcome back sir"! He is back with a bang. Including these type of lyrics for an intro song! , only Jonnavithula things. This song has all the elements, the divine feel, classical beats, mass drums & peppy rock star raps etc. This is nothing new for DSP, he always delivers these type of tunes which provide full meals. The song has beautiful rhythm, drums, guitar, tabala and energetic chorus which is sure to make you all nod your head tap your feat and give goosebumps while listening to lyrics. It has been quiet while listening to these type of lyrics in commercial films. The phrases "Raksha pradhana sikshadhikara neerikshudu evadu, ugrapradhapa vygrapraroopa dagraprahari evadu, sula yudhanta kaala jwanta trinetrudevadu, vidhyamsakara pruthvi thalana abhayakarudu athadu evadu ? DJ..DJ..DJ" sounds  much. Comparing a hero with the lines which applies to god, is really more, but some how steals our hearts with those hi-classical touch in lyrics. The vocals provided by Vijay Prakash are excellent with amazing clear diction, but some how some mistakes crept in, the first word itself is said wrong, he says "padana" instead of "pradhana". But we can overlook all of them for DSP's music, Jonnavithula's lyrics and Vijay's powerful singing.

Coming to the second interlude led by chorus is simply superb, "Jai jai shakti yukthuledu sidhi ganapathi jaiho, sai sai nattuvangamula natya ganapathi saaho, vidhyarachari vidhyabrahmana veedhi veedhi lo thillana, khumbarinchara bhaktula paina varala jallula vaana"᭡᭡ make us dance in devotion. Such was the feel when it came. The chorus led by tabala and drum race was too good. Vijay prakash rocked the stage. DSP and Jonnavithula joined the rockstar's performance in their own styles. But one thing which was not appealing was saying the word "DJ..DJ" which sounded out of space always, DSP would have composed it in different way to keep the motivational and divine feel intact. However those mass beats used to dance in front of Ganesha on Ganesh immersion day gets its resemblance here in this song. The song is an instant hit and stole my heart definitely except that sound of "DJ...DJ.." everything was on the track, hope Bunny would have rocked the screen.

02. Gadilo Badilo Madilo

The second song is a pure romantic duet with a divine feel, statement sounds awkward but song sounds amazing. What else we can expect from DSP, other than this song. After listening to this song, every listener will be led into different feel. A song which is filled with romantic thoughts and finely blended with divine feel, this song is like a fruit salad- a mixture of all elements sounding too sweet. For a surprise, Sahithi has been roped at lyrical department. As usual Sahithi has rocked the stage, every thing was new and fresh, "Madilo Vadilo Badilo Gudilo nee thalape sasivadhana", "asega neeku poojale cheyya aalakinchindi aa namakam", "agrahaarala tamala paakalle taakutondi tamakam" completely new and fresh phrases, however late Veturi garu used to write this type of lyrics, it has been a v.long time listening to these type of songs. DSP proved why he is a top music director since 10 years, he uses tabala to keep the divine feel intact and we can hear those technical sounds and drums to make it closer to youth and give a chance for Bunny to rock the screen with his steps.  The second interlude led by tabala, banjo and guitar stands as highlight to the song.Hats off to both the music director and lyricist.

Coming to vocals, Chitra came as a pleasant surprise into this song with the support of Karthikeyan. Chitra shows what legendary singing is, the phrases "Asmayika yoga kasmika bhoga rasmika raga hindolam anganga teja srungara bhava sukumara sundarm..aa chandra tara sandhya sameera neehara hara bhupalam ananda teera brunda vihara mandara saagaram" stands as a proof for her resourceful and industrious singing. Chitra garu is really a plus to the song. Karthikeyan was just there to support the legend with his stunning vocals. My goodness!! Chitra sang the song with amazing expression, which no other female lead singer could do. The first and second stanzas show , what was her power in singing. Chitra-DSP combo never fails, whether it is varsham, khadgam, sontham, legend, neneu sailaja etc and yet another song into their wonderful combination.However song is an instant hit. The ease with Chitra garu is singing fast beat songs and with young singers is simply amazing and proves that she is versatile enough to handle any genre.When music, singing and lyrics are beyond extraordinary this would be the result.

03. Mechuko

Lyrics: Srimani

Rating: 3/5

The third song opens to full of energy, mass beats and folk touch in which DSP could give his best. This song is nothing new and everything was predictable right from beginning of the song. Srimani's lyrics take us no where, they are kept simple with routine thoughts. Nakash Aziz was not a perfect choice for the song. He sounded too troghty like Sukhwinder or Uditji. He had made unique songs like "Tauba Tauba" and "Laage Laage" in SGS and Katamarayudu, but this fails to impress us, whole song was filled with fake accent and some mistakes in lyrical issues. The phrase "Chirru gaallli", "kambadi andukunde" tell you why. The only saving grace was DSP's music, but that is also routine in terms of beats and instrumentation. But this song can touch all those first seaters, Bunny's fans. This song is quiet tolerable.

04. Seeti Maar

Singers: Jaspreet Jazz & Rita

Lyrics: Balaji

Rating: 2.5/5

This song is party song which all most appears in all the films now'a'days. This might be an item song in club. This song does'nt take music lovers anywhere. This song is actually below average, not expected from a top hero or music director. Balaji's lyrics are routine, not at all fresh. The phrases "ntr, anr, megastar ninne chuste whistle estar" sounds awkward and these type of lyrics are just written to create a buzz and hype among fans and audience. Nothing to speak about this song. DSP is completely out of form in this song, he did'nt sound himself.  This does'nt fit to either Bunny's nor DSP's range. Singers are just there to look after what is required. This number has never appealed to me, even after number of repeats.

05. Box Baddalayi Poye

Singers: Sagar & Geeta Madhuri

One more massy routine song.  Same beats, same tune, same lyrics, same instrumentation, same singing....No freshness at all!! But this song appeals to front benchers and AA's fans. This song is beaten continously, with out proper rhythm pattern. Geeta & Sagar are known for their item songs, and continue the same. Geeta sounded same like in "Pakka Local" in her accent. Sagar was as usual rocking. Bhaskar Bhatla just gave something needed by the film makers. After Blockbuster now its time for Box baddalai poye, why should lyricists write these kind of things, the success rate would be decided after films release, these type of things just create a hype among audience but never gains attention of serious music lovers. Overall a song which is quite tolerable.

Remarks: DSP-AA's combo never failed, but for the first time it fails. Only 2/5 songs are excellent, rest all are just passable and routine. What ever might happen, DJ would break records at box office due to its craze in market. But DSP really disappointed with this album, only first 2 songs sounded amazing. But whatever it is, it does'nt affect the success of film nor DSP's career, they are everlasting. ATB to whole team of DJ, let bunny rock the screen, Harish shankar show his power. But this would be enough to fans, as DSP gave a powerful on powerful intro song, an outstanding romantic duet and 3 out and out mass songs, this is enough. Lets hope for films success. Stay glued to theaters on june 23 for watching different DJ on the screen.

Update: There was a controversy regarding the lyrics of Gudilo Badilo song. I did'nt understand what was wrong in it. When there are too many songs with very poor literary values, nothing mattered but this lyric became a controversy. "Namakam", "Chamakam", "Agrahaarala" are controversial they say, but I feel no, because the lyricist meant how pure was his life, tradition and religion was his love, so he compared his love with this words. So nothings wrong, its creative field, let them give their fresh ideas. People should learn to be sportive, when they avoid those bad literary valued songs, this should also be overlooked. So this song was perfect in all aspects, no issues Sahithi garu.

Updated Lyric Of Asmaika Yoga:

As per the controversy of "Gudilo Badilo"  song's lyric, the film unit has changed the lyric of song by altering the words "Namakam" and "Chamakam"....which were replaced with the phrases "Naa gamakam" and "nee sumakam"....they left all whole song intact except this two words..which sounded really very odd...and DSP has made Sagar to sing those two words, which is very clearly audible..DSP would have brought Karthikeyan's voice itself for the changed words, but we dont know what was the reason, they made Sagar to utter those two words. And editing was too weak that a voice break of few seconds is clearly audible between those two phrases. That was just a small change. They kept Chitra's voice intact. But I wished old version was better. What ever it is , it was very minute and can be completely overlooked for Chitra's talented singing, Karthikeyan's superb vocals, DSP's rocking music, Sahithi's traditional lyrics and AA-Pooja's stunning moves. A minus can always be kept aside for remembering the 1000 positive things.
