Arjun Reddy is an Indian Telugu-language film written and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, produced by Pranay Vanga for Bhadrakali Pictures. The soundtrack is composed by Radhan. The film is released on 25 August 2017.It tells the story of a young and brilliant medico Arjun with anger management issues. It received critical acclaim and gained a cult following among youth in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It was released on August 25, 2017 after a lot of controversies and censor issues, to positive reviews.

We have so many new technicians in this film, always people frighten to release a movie with this many new technicians whose minimum experience is 2-3 films, and it is difficult to withstand their position on screen with the expectations reaching the audience. Then comes Arjun Reddy with a trend setting mark and has gained a title "Sensational hit". I need'nt talk about films success, you all what it has done to the masses and box-office collections. Vijay is on high note after nationally accaliamed "Pellichoopulu".

Radhan has composed the music with 7 songs. Lets see what this Andala Rakshasi & Yevade Subrahmanyam fame composer did to this film's tracks.

01. Emitemito

Singers: Alphons Joseph
Lyrics: Anantha Sriram
Rating: 2.5/5

First song opens on a strong electrical guitar note, which is technical. This song follows a different & modern instrumentation which resembles A.R.Rahman's score in the track "Sach Kahoon" in an album "Raunaq". There is no relation between the tune & lyric. Lyric by Anantha Sriram is fine, with his beautiful romantic thoughts welcoming love into the life, a common situation which appears in almost every movie. The heavy bazz guitars, drums, techno drums, auto tuners etc makes a song youthful, but never finds its way towards music lovers, if there is no proper tune, this song is simply a tune weaven with some good words and rapped by an vocalist. Alphons is a Malayalam playback singer, who has created different songs, but does'nt fit to this song, especially Telugu. He has to look after fine tunings here and there and next has to work on Telugu diction to continue here for long. Overall it does'nt appeal even after multiple loops.

02. Madhurame

Singers: Sameera Bharadwaj
Lyrics: Shreshta
Rating: 4/5

Second song is in complete contrast to the above song. Here it opens with a classical note and then the same techno drums and bazz guitars take over continued by Sameera's mellifluous singing. The songs lyric reminded me of a popular sloka "Madhuram Gayati", even the tune was similar to that. A beautiful love song which evokes the feelings of heroin to the hero. Its a nice idea to blend this song with a classical tune. Radhan has injected those techno sounds to connect young generation also. The interludes led by looping veena & tabala sounded good, the sound of Shenayi in between was also good. Sameera was rocking as usual. The sound of Shehanayi was heard even in Varudu movie's song. However all the 3 departments did their job well.

03. Dhooram

Singers: Nikitha Gandhi & Chorus
Lyrics: Anatha Sriram
Rating: 3/5

With this song Radhan came back to his original. This song and that husky song reminds me of the song "jee lein" from Ok Jaanu, here Radhan seems to compose music getting inspired by other musicians mostly. Though the interlude was rich enough with those technical beats and chorus, song was frail and sounded dumb. By using technical instruments does'nt make the song modern, but having a proper tune makes it youthful or quiet listenable. Composers should understand this, the quality of music A.R.Rahman makes should be clearly visible when people like Radhan are inspired by him. So song falls on a  flop note & Sriram's lyrics are frail, take us no where.

04. The Break Up Song

Singers: Revanth
Lyrics: Rambabu Gosala
Rating: 3.5/5

Again the same beats, similar tune, same raps and same noise. Radhan blends this song with the interlude used in Madhurame, which is something appreciable. His instrumentation is rich enough , but tunes are falling flat. This tunes require importance to the lyrics, but they have no scope for expressions and lyrics, there is only scope for noise and raps. Some good phrases like "telisene naa nuvve neee nuvve kaanani, manna pantam enta ee vishwam anta" went unnoticed in the heavy noise. The Telugu pride Indian Idol winner Revanth is featured at the vocals, but could'nt help the song. Some expressions like "ukrosham, avedana" sounded amazing in his voice.

05. Mari Mari

Singers: Gowtami
Lyrics: Mandela Pedaswamy
Rating: 4.5/5

This song opens at a classical note and offers something fresh and new. Here we can clearly understand that Radhan is applying a formula for the songs, he is giving classical compositions to the female solo and yo-yo rap kind of things to the male solo basing on their characters. This composition is true gem and master piece of the album. Mandela, a new lyricist has done a wonderful job. Radhan did an excellent job, Gowtami's husky vocals are very good to hear. But she had some problems with the pronunciation , it is'nt clear whether she said "ela or ala" and next it is "chitram" not "chetram". This lyric reminds me of the sloka "Mari Mari ninne..naa madi mari mari ninne", just an co-incidence in its lyric.

06. Gundelona

Singers: Sowjanya
Lyrics: Shreshta
Rating: 5/5

This is one more fresh tune composed for the female. This song has no instrumentation, it is just sung amazingly by Sowjanya.  It is so difficult to sing a song without instrumentation, especially in films. This song is breathlesss, i.e. she has sung the song in one breath for nearly four minutes, amazing work. Shreshta's work is also quiet good. I don't know how many will accept this amazing song, but it is outstanding. Sowjanya's voice is similar to that of Sunitha and a blend of Shreya Ghoshal's lilt. Her base voice sounded as strong as Chitra and exactly like Chitra. Her diction was like mellifluous Sujatha's voice. A voice blended with this many great voices is always great, let us hope that she is showered with many chances in future.

07. Oopiri Aaguthunnadhey

Singer: Revanth
Lyric: Rambabu Gosala
Rating: 5/5

This is one more song from Radhan, which is again classical. The interludes by melancholic voilen sounded outstanding. All the two stanza's were led by tabala, which also sounded too good. Rambabu Gosala , what a lyric, take a bow. Radhan is the winner in this song, it is a right balance between classical and western. The singing is modern and western, but the instrumentation is rich with classical beats and amazing arrangements. Revanth gets his second song in this film, he has done complete justice to the song, but he would have avoided that modern way of singing, he would have sung whole song as how he began the song in the beginning. Next "enchaale needi polchale needi" should be sustained to make those phrases more clear, but it sounded like a non-telugu singing, only that phrase, but rest everything went out well. The pain and suffering in the lyric was very clearly audible in Revanth's voice, every music lover would be in tears after the first stanza, that was Revanth's singing.

Picks Of The Album: Gundellona, Oopiri Aagutunnade, Mari Mari & Madhurame

OVERALL RATING: 8/10

Remarks: Radhan has done a good job. 5 out of 7 songs are really good to listen. He has a bright future. Here we see different singers and all are good at singing. This album is for the singers, especially Sowjanya, Revanth & Sameera who excelled at their respective vocals. These three singers even expressed well proving that there are yet singers left out in present generation who express well.
