Fidaa Movie Audio Review- Telugu (2017)

Movie: Fidaa (2017)

Director: Shekhar Kammula

Producer: Dil Raju

Csat: Vraun Tej & Sai Pallavi

Music: Shakthikanth Karthick

Fidaa is a 2017 Telugu-language romantic comedy film written and directed by Sekhar Kammula.

It features Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles which marks the latter's debut in Telugu. Principal photography commenced in August 2016. The film received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and audience upon release. Critics praised the performances of the principal cast.
This film marked the entry of Varun Tej and Shekar Kammula with a blockbuster. Shekhar and Varun really required this success. Dil Raju is a lucky stone and made this project successful. Sai Pallavi marking her debut in Telugu industry, stole all the hearts of telugu people. Next year award functions are for you.

So now coming to the music of this blockbuster film, Shakthikanth Karthick composed the music after Ko ante Koti. Music was well acclaimed and background score was by J.B. He composed 6 tunes and 5 tunes were used in film, & brought the old lyricists. I was dissappointed with the audio at first, but after watching the film at theater, understood the greatness of his music. Each song had different flavour, lets see how he has fared the songs.

01. Hey Mister

Singers: Deepak
Lyricist: Vanamali
Rating: 3.5/5

The first song, is an entry song for the hero. Shakthikanth was intelligent enough to handle this project. As the hero is an NRI, he composed this type of tune and the singer Deepak to sounded like that only. A bit of English or American slang in Telugu sounded good, it is not a mistake, but wantedly sung to suit the character of the Hero in the film. The rap with telugu lyrics sounded good, the tune which was continuously looping as background of the song, reminds of Salsa dance form, which is again done knowingly to suit to the tee. The song was perfect with very few defects. Somehow connects the situation. Vanamali does his job well.

02. Vachinde

Singers: Madhupriya, Ramki & Chorus
Additional Vocals: Sindhura
Lyricist: Suddala Ashok Teja
Rating: 4/5

This trending song which was an instant hit too sounded amazing. First I never liked this song, later its my favorite in the album. Hearing to Madhupriya in a commercial film sounded amazing. She was lilty and cherubic. Her energy was at peaks, which is a sure plus to the song, especially when she sang that "Relare relare" portion. But at few places she struggled also. Like while saying "Dinneru annnade, dateu annnade" and "pilla renuka" was very cherubic and squeaky. Ramki was limited to very few lines and did a good job. Chorus might have been little more clear. And at last, Suddala Ashok Teja, the king of revolutionary songs is back with a different tune and genre, his lyrics are crazy and completely filled with Telangana nativity and spirit, "neelanedipe gaali motarlu, creamu biscuit" etc found good feel in it and reminded the hidden words of Telugu. "Ayababboy enta podugo" phrase went crazy and sung amazingly by Madhupriya. At last the energetic interludes led by tabala, key board, drums by Kartick too sounded amazing and required special mention.

03. Hey Pillagada

Singers: Sindhuri Vishal & Sinov Raj
Lyricist: Vanamali
Rating: 5/5

Third song is a romantic number which stole my heart and never gave back. Vanamali who had dubbing issues in yester year films like Kadali etc is back with a bang. What a lyric sir, you literally amazed us. Coming to the tune which is effectively led by Sarangi, violen , tabala was outstanding, marvelous, superb. Especially the sarangi made us play sarangi with our hands in air. Shakthikarthick will have a bright future if he composes at this pace, though the song is heavely driven by Shekhar's ideas and influenzed from his previous films like godavari and anand , it is perfect. coming to vocals, Sindhuri was amamzing and her expressions are perfect. Sinov's mellifious singing too stood as a highlight. "Neeku telisena neeloni hairaanaa , nannu koolchena naaloni jadi vana" alike phrases enthralls the native audience. The classical tabala interlude at the end was too amazing.

04. Uosu Poodu

Singer: Hemachandra
Lyricist: Chaitanya Pingali
Rating: 4.5/5

The fourth song, was as usual amazing. It is a soft romantic solo sung by Hemachandra. It is too good to hear Hemachandra after a lot of time, but has he lost his charm in his voice in this time gap or did I forget his manly voice? He sounded so different, he seems to be influnzed by latest singers and mostly sounded like Adanan Sami, which sounded too boring, Hemachandra would have sung it as usaually with out those extra effects and over stressing at wrong places. The tune was perfect, the lyric was marvelous but his voice made the song worse. If he would'nt have adopted that modern singing it would be good or may be it was the suggestion of film makers to suit that NRI character's ting. Whatever it is his modern style of singing did'nt work, it was like "usu poddu" but it is "uosu poodu"!!

05. Edo Jarugutondi

Singers: Aravind Srinivas & Renuka
Lyricist: Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry
Rating: 5/5

Fifth song is again a romantic duet with completely modern equipment. The tune had a lot of elevated pitch, which reminds of K.M.Radhakrishnan's works in Godavari and Anand but this is just a co-incidence, but this song has its own pace and melody. It was so perfect and amazing to listen. This song is definitely the best in the album. Seetharama Sastry garu's lyric is always rocking, always new, always fresh, phrases like "vintunnava naa mounani" always stand as a solid proof for his high literary thoughts. After listening to this master piece any Telugu lover can say, "Edo jarugutondi edalo alajadi mee paata vintuntene!!". Aravind simply rocked the stage, it is so difficult to sustain the notes at high pitches, but he does it with a bit ease. Renuka too sounded mellifluous. Aravind's voice was simply lilting.

06. Fidaa Fidaa

Singers: Hemachandra & Malavika
Lyricist: Chaitanya Pingali
Rating: 3.5/5

This is the bonus track penned on the title "Fidaa". Coming to tune, it is a mixture of sounds and melodious instruments, but sounded too routine. Hemachandra made it too boring, why is he modulating his voice? he himself should know. He is sounding soo bad when he is trying to immitate some other modern voices. Malavika was good enough, but she too struggled to sing those lower notes. The thing which was good, is Chaitanya Pingali's lyric, which is the only saving grace along with that melodious instrumentation. Kartick again uses that sarangi which was good in second interlude. the looped singing of words "Fidaa fidaa fidaa fidaa fidaa" sounded awkward in Hemachandra's voice. He has to come back to his original, to give his best.

Picks of The Album: Hey Pillagada, Edo Jarugutondi, Vachinde & Uosu Poodu

OVERALL RATING: 8.5/10

Remarks: Shakthikanth Karthick has done a wonderful job. Let him go bright in future.Shekhar Kammuala who had wonderful music in Aanand, Godavari, Leader & Happy days was not at his best in this film in terms of music, but even we should adjust according to the changing trend, if today's trend is compared this songs are at its best, but we will definitely miss the feel good music of K.M.Radhakrishnan who is off in now"a"days films and we miss Late Veturi garu's lyrics, we are missing extaordinary talented singers like SPB & Chithra who can handle any genre and suit to the core of the situation in the song. But now"a"days these singers are struggling to sing the elevated pitches and make it so horrible to listen and Hemachandra has got influenzed with that modern singing, which is not at all good for these type of songs, it works only on few songs. When I heard Hemachandra in this film, I felt as if he lost his magic and charm in his manly voice.
