Mahanubhavudu Audio Review- Telugu (2017)
Movie: Mahanubahvudu (2017)
Director: Maruthi
Producer: V.Vamshi Krishna Reddy
Cast: Sharwanand & Mehreen Pirzaada
Music: S. S. Thaman
Sharwanand after Shatamanbhavathi & Radha comes with a different project Mahanubhavudu. A national acclaimed film Shatamanbhavathi turned as his lucky stone, where he is interestingly signing many new projects & doing his best, I have nothing to speak about this, we have to wait untill 29 september. Sharwanand is always clashing with bigges, last time it was with Chiru & Balayya's films & now NTR & Mahesh Babu, last time he was lucky, it turned to be a blockbuster, now lets wait & watch what it will do. Radha was a flop, hoping this should be a success.
Coming to music, Thaman scored the music. After Gautam Nanda, this is his next film. His last films music went unnoticed with the film . Same with Chuttalabbai, Tikka, Jaguar, Shivalinga & Srirastu Shubhamastu. So his latest hits were Winner & Sarainodu, if this music fails he will have a tough time ahead. So why late, lets fare the songs.
01. Rendu Kallu
Singer: Armaan Malik
Lyrics: Krishna Kanth
Rating: 4/5
First song is a melodious solo sung by the male lead in the film. The song opens on a mellifluous note and continues with same old Thaman's techno beats & sounds, but the usage of flute is interesting. I have nothing to speak about the song, as usual the song had techno beats, lite hearted tune, slow rhythm , hi-fi singing & a rap, these elements have become common elements in Thaman's music. Nothing new. Armaan Malik did his part well. Krishna Kanth's lyrics were apt. Is the tune inspired from somewhere or I feel like I heard it somewhere? However a routine song. When we listen keenly we may find the source of this song that is "Kollagotte" song from "Remo". No problem inspiration might be from any where, but the first & second stanzas are made in Thaman's styles. The second stanza is a solid proof for Armaan's mellifluous vocals weaving magic all over.
02. Mahanubhavudu
Singers: M.M.Manasi & Geetha Madhuri
Lyrics: Krishna Kanth
Rating: 4/5
This is the title song made with a classical tune. As soon as the song got released it got many negative comments that it is inspired from some old song & immediately we found the source, this song is heavily inspired from "Gandhamu Puyare" song in "Subhodayam" composed by K.V.Mahadevan & sung by SPB & Susheela. Many say that he has copied, but I feel its not a copy, but he heavily got inspired by the tune, so he used almost same tune with different programme, i.e. he programmed the old song into a new one simply recreation. But he would have told openly that he used that tune, otherwise it is like plagiarism.
Coming to the song, Thaman tried his best to make the song sound too good. He used those techno sounds , voilen , tabala like thing may be mridangam, banjo etc to make it sound classic as well as youthful. The interled led by solo violen was amazing. Does'nt the backgroud score remind of Fidaa's "Vachinde" song? Coming to vocals Geetha was a perfect tee to the song, she simply screwed the song. Inspite of many chances to sing only mass songs, Geetha reminds that she is not at all an underrated singer in these type of genres. She got a ample support from Manasi but Manasi sounded awkward, she thought she was dealing with carnatic vocals but she could'nt show accurate difference between that vocals & this present generation singing. Next upto lyrics, "Mahanubhavudavera" should sound exactly same otherwise it sounds alien to Telugu language. Both singers could'nt do that. Next Krishna did his part well but lost his consistency in mean while in this song, he writes "macche asale lenodu chandurudu emo vaadu" does it make any sense? Moon has a spot on him right? might be mythological or scientific. But some how a song from Thaman, one of the best in the album.

03. Kiss Me Baby
Singers: S.S.Thaman & Manisha Erabathini
Lyrics: Krishna Kanth
Rating: 2.5/5
This is one more song from Thaman which is in his own style, the routine stuff again. As usual the noisy instruments accompany the vocals without making them clear, auto-tuner will be used, he will stop the instruments in between & make singers sing, a rap, techno sounds. All the above elements find place in the song. Krishna kanth as nothing to do, fill the space with Telugish(Telugu+English) words & he does it perfectly. He writes "OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder) gaade" indicating the defect that hero has in the film. Next coming vocals, Thaman himself sang the song, he is'nt a professional singer, he missed few notes here & there according to my knowledge or either he is'nt having a very great voice to overlook the mistakes, so better he avoids singing in future. Next Manisha, the finalist in USA Paadutha Teeyaga singer, has nothing to do much, limited to few phrases. Its good seeing her getting more chances & a chance in acting in Fidaa movie. At last a routine stuff from Thaman.
04. My Love Is Back
Singers: Rahul Nambhiyar
Lyrics: Krishna Kanth
Rating: 3.5/5
This is a break-up song, I guess. The lyrics indicate that hero strongly desires the love bond to continue yet & he is deeply saddened with the break-up. As soon as the singing starts, some Tabla sounds & few Taal sounds are heard which gives a feeling of hearing to a sufi song. Reminds me of "Kehna Hi Kya" from Bombay, just a co-incidence in instrumentation but the tune has its own pace & style. The way "nuvventa oddanna vidipoleme P-Y-A-A-A-A-R" is said, is exactly like "Suvvi Suvvallamma" song in "Loafer" movie. Coming to vocals, Rahul was a bit dull & could have sung it little more bright. But its happy to hear Rahul after a long gap. Thaman does his part, however dose'nt deviate from his template style. Krishna gets his 4rth song, here, he has got a major pie in this film, seems interesting, but he has to improve lot of his writing standards to maintain his position in industry. A song with little freshness, more of routine stuff.
05. Bhammalu Bhammalu
Singer: Nakash Aziz & Chorus
Lyrics: Bhaskar Bhatla
Rating: 3/5
A mass song, which is present in almost all Telugu films. I can say one more routine song from Thaman. Many people say he has improved a lot in this film, but I cannot find that change excluding the interludes. The interludes were rich & energetic. The lyric is about a fun making situation about the girls. "Bhammalu Bhammalu meru poni tailu vesukunna domalu, kutti kutti champe cute cheemalu" remind me of a song "Nizam Babulu" from "Premante Idera " movie, only the lyric nothing else. Next every time Bhammalu is coming, some body shouts "Bayby" from background, which sounded interesting. Nakash's vocals were too bad, no proper diction nor energy, I'am surprised to know how come his voice changed from "Tauba Tauba" song which was too good to hear. But some how did'nt appeal.May work on the screen.
06. Eppudaina
Singer: Shweta Pandit
Lyrics: Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry
Rating: 4.5/5
Any day, any film, any time a song from Sastry garu is a excitement & an atmosphere of Merriness. Who can write the lyric, which will make us think of the situation or the condition in the film, unless its Sastry garu. The first line makes us think of the lyric, phrases like "kalisochina tholi varamo kanipinchina kalavaramo", "shruthi minchina raagamlo haavanamo" are a solid proof to prove his literary skills. Thaman simply nailed the music, the flute-violen interludes steal our heart. The melancholic violen gives a different feel which takes to a ethereal state. Coming to vocals, Shwetha is only the fire on cool icing cake, her voice was fragile, frail, dull, energy less, husky not at all suiting to the song. This is where we miss singers like Chitra or Shreya Ghoshal, who would do complete justice to the song, this type of songs require lot of expression & a clarity in lyric, where Shwetha lacks both.
