Sanju is an upcoming Indian biographical film based on the life of Indian actor Sanjay Dutt, directed and written by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film stars an ensemble cast with Ranbir Kapoor playing the role of Sanjay Dutt in various stages of his life. The film is set to be released on 29 June 2018. The film will follow Sanjay Dutt's life, mainly through three stages, during his drug addict phase, his many love affairs, and during the phase of his life when he went to jail under TADA case.

The film's soundtrack features songs composed by A. R. Rahman, Rohan-Rohan and Vikram Montrose while lyrics are written by Shekhar Astitwa, Puneet Sharma, Rohan Gokhale. 01. Main Bhadiya Thu Bhi Bhadiya

Music: Rohan Rohan
Singers: Sonu Nigam & Sunidhi Chauhan
Lyrics: Puneeth Sharma
Rating: 5/5

This is the first song that got released on June 3. This is an extremely fun ridden track written-composed & sung very effectively. Rohan-Rohan composed this number with all required elements which evoke the right emotion and take the listeners on a fun filled rolar coaster. Though this song is composed in yesteryear's style, it has all the instrumentation which connects the youth. Puneeth Sharma's lyrics are absolutely perfect. Coming to the vocals, Sunidhi Chuahan & Sonu Nigam take care of the song, they both are just extraordinary. Loved their experimentation.  Both really rocked the song with their expressions, but somehow Sunidhi aces through the vocals. It's really difficult to guess who is 'Bhadiya' in the song. That Shehanayi and Tabla bring the right flavor. A song that needs a mention and a must listen. If you did'nt hear to it, pl do, otherwise you'll miss the fun.

- SONU NIGAM & SUNIDHI CHAUHAN

02. Kar Har Maidan Fateh

Music: Vikram Montrose
Singers: Shukwinder Singh & Shreya Ghoshal
Lyrics: Shekhar Astitwa
Rating: 5/5

Right from the beginning of this song, it carries a heavy intensity which gives goosebumps to the listeners. Vikram composees a foot tapping motivational song which inspires the listeners. Shekhar Astitwa takes this song deep into the hearts of listeners through his thought provoking lyrics. And that instrumentation with running beats, electrifying guitars and violins puts everyone's attention towards the song and maintains that pace till the end. And who could have sung this song so very well other than the throaty 'Shukwinder Singh'!! His vocals are too electrifying, its stamped that Shukwinder rocks these type of songs and he does it this time too with no surprises. Coming to the 'Versatile' Shreya Ghoshal, its a bit hard to believe that she has accompanied this rustic singer so very well with her mellifluous vocals. Its like a boom when she started singing. Shukwinder took care of high pitches, Shreya aced through the rest making this song a blockbuster. This song will be remembered for years. When music lyrics and vocals dominate each other this is the output.

- SHUKWINDER & SHREYA GHOSHAL

03. Ruby Ruby

Music: A.R.Rahman
Singers: Shaswat Singh & Poorvi Koutish
Lyrics: Irshad Kamil
Rating: 5/5

This one turns to be a love-party number, which is skillfully mastered by the maestro. When ever we look at the name "A.R.Rahman", we begin to love the songs even before its release, because he has set his standards there in the sky. This one is no exception. Its like a slow poison, it has all those yesteryear's elements which crack the right chord. Rahman's typical and perfect instrumentation makes the listeners stay on this song for a while. That bass guitars go on looping till the end, which is a highlight. I have nothing to speak about this, a track which might appeal after multiple attempts. But after getting into the song, Iam sure you cant come out of it. When ever 'Ruby ruby' comes its too good. Vocalists are fine, Poorvi is just there for few humming portions. Lyrics are fine.

- AR RAHMAN

04. Baba Bolte Bas Ho Gaya

Music: Vikram Montrose
Singers: Papon, Ranbir Kapoor & Supriya Pathak
Lyrics: Puneeth Sharma, Abhijath Joshi & Roshan Ghoklae
Rating: 4/5

Here this one is a fun ridden track with all that commotion. Song starts with Ranbir Kapoor's voice over, then song goes on fun ridden rolar coaster like the first song. This song has too many breaks with narration by Ranbir or either the female lead. Some phrases may break the listeners with laughter, they are too well mastered. This song is completely situational, yesteryear styled. This song has no tune or proper rhythm pattern, actually its not needed, song is good enough, clicks on with visuals & need'nt be any better. Vocalists aced through the song. Lyrics are upto the mark. Instrumentation is lite and neat.

05. Bhopu Baj Raha Hain

Music: Roshan-Roshan
Singer: Nakash Aziz
Lyrics: Shekhar Astitwa & Roshan Ghoklae
Rating: 5/5

This is one more fun party song. I think this is a dance number. That prelude is featured in the trailer. First the song starts on a low note, then it picks up the pace like anything. As the song progresses, I think there won't be any listener who will'nt sway their heads and tap their feet. Instrumentation is extraordinary. Those beats set up the stage with a 80's backdrop, which might remind us of Mithun Chakravarthy's dance number- 'Disco Dance', that's the impact this song will have on the listeners. Loved this stuff. Lyrics are fine. Hero of the song is Nakash Aziz, his vocals spill fire fumes into air. The place where he sings continuously " मचल मचल के डांस कर उछाल उछाल के डांस कर पिसल पिसल के डांस कर "  is like a transformer blasting at 220 volts, his energy is amazing, loved his rendition. Song eventually gives a great feeling to the listeners towards the end of the song. Overall a superbly composed song.

- NAKASH AZIZ

06. Mujhe Chand Pe Le Chalo

Music: A.R.Rahman
Singer: Nikitha Gandhi
Lyrics: Irshaad Kamill
Rating: 3/5

This is a sensuous romantic song with a ting of melancholy. A.R.Rahman makes it soft and sweet, completely situational, usually his songs don'nt strike at first time, they need multiple attempts, then they become slow poisons, this song is no where exception from that. Those violins give a sorrow feeling, don't know whats the situation. Nikitha Gandhi's over expressive singing is fine, gelled well with the tune. Rahman knows perfectly, which singer suits which song, all the singers who get his songs, cannot sound this better anywhere else, because its Rahman & he knows perfectly where they belong to. A song that might connect with visuals. Those beats and violins once again remind of yesteryear's songs. This song is like a rehash of 'Raat Ka Nasha' song with no intensity & only that sensuous feel.

- AR RAHMAN

Picks Of The Album: Kar Har Maidan Fateh, Bhopu Baj Raha Hain & Ruby Ruby

OVERALL RATING: 9/10

Remarks: When a biopic is made, songs play a pivotal role, because they must be situational and neat suiting the persona of the biopic & in that case Sanju excels at that. It has 4 fun numbers & 2 emotional songs which sum upto the plot of the film, whole film is a mixture of fun and emotional scenes that Sanjay Dutt underwent & music perfectly deals with that criterion & what else is needed. Go enjoy this masterpiece in theaters.
