Akhil has been really trying very hard to showcase his talent to TFI, but is'nt getting right content. He has debuted with a disastrous commercial 'A Akhil', then came up with average grosser 'Hello' but could'nt get the expected output, hope atleast with this film he gets all the success. 'Mr.Majnu' has been presented by the hit film unit of 'Tholiprema' fame. Lets see what are they gonna do now.
Thaman has been roped to compose music for this film with a solo card lyricist Sri Mani, he has composed 6 songs for the film, lets fare the songs now.
01. Mr. Majnu (Title Song)
Vocalists: Ramya NSK & Thaman SS
Rating: 3/5
This is the first song which is so named as 'Mr.Majnu (Title song)', it offers nothing new in terms of music nor lyrics. Sri Mani tries to bring in the names of their ancestors (Nagarjuna & ANR) to manifest that it's Akkineni heir's song, it's Akhil's song. Lyrics are above par yet aren't creepy, which is a wonted trait of Sri Mani. Coming to tuning again Thaman goes back to his original style & template, mixing the song with lot of cuts, adding unwanted sounds, stopping the vocalists & playing instruments etc but it's nice that he has'nt used autotuner. But this song is'nt that unendurable. Instrumentation is fine. Ramya NSK who is known for her euphonious renditions, has sung a high voltage number, which she brings out with flying colors.
02. Emainado
Vocalists: Armaan Maalik
Rating:4/5
This is that romantic song in Thaman's changeover approach. Though the song is sweet & mellifluous it sounds somewhere like tholiprema's song. If not for that instrumentation is brilliant, interludes with vibrant violins sounded awful. Srimani is'nt like other lyricists who just fills up space for the tune, but he makes sure that his phrases are youthful, meaningful & the most important thing his songs will'nt be a mixture of english & telugu, these traits of him are gaining him laudable praises & chances to work in more & more films. Coming to the vocalist, Armaan Maalik is soft & melodious like his usual, he sounds awful.
03. Chiru Chiru Navvula
Vocalists: Koti Saluri, Tushar, Ramya Behra & Joshi
Rating: 3.5/5
Third song is a festive celebration. Prelude & second interlude are mastered too well. Tuning is perfect, yet it lacks freshness as it sounds like a rehash. Srimani fills the song with some youthful phrases. Thaman's changeover will'nt sustain for long if he's gonna remix his own songs like this, he should try in bringing out something new & fresh, but that only happens with his instrumentation, his tunes are the same old one's. All the male vocalists sounded too good, don't know who sang what but they made the song. Koti Saluri, yesteryear's hit composer gets to sing few lines in the song, which is nice to hear to him after many years again. Ramya is literally spoiler, don't know what's wrong with her she sounded completely out of the box.
04. Hey Nenila
Vocalists: Sruthi Ranjani
Rating: 4/5
This is a female intense solo, which is good in all the terms. Thaman's orchestration is brilliant like usual. This time tune too is fresh & somewhat praiseworthy. Mandolin & veena sounded amazing. All the percussion takes the lead with a solo flute, which too sounded perfect. Srimani is fine, but after Ninnila it's time for his Nenila, this rehash is what listeners hate. If not for that rest every phrase is ok. Sruthi sounded sonorous & melodious.
05. Kopamga Kopamga
Vocalists: Armaan Maalik & Thaman SS
Rating: 4/5
This is one more youthful melody with lot of exuberance. Orchestration is chord striking once again. Srimani is fine. Tuning too is perfect. This type of song is what listeners expect, when they should be youthful & melodious simultaneously. Armaan gets his second here, which he does with ample dedication & love. It's nice that he gets to sing in Telugu very often, but overrating someone is really bad, we have many young Telugu singers who are striving for a chance atleast & they can do nothing less than this alien singers, but I don't understand what's the fascination over getting these foreign singers & dumping them with chances more than what is expected. Music directors should understand this otherwise there is no issue with Armaan Maalik.
06. Naalo Neeku
Vocalists: Shreya Ghoshal & Kaala Bhairava
Rating: 4/5
This one is the melancholic duet b/w the lead pair. Thaman aces through the tune & instrumentation. We can find the amount of hardwork & quality of dedication in the lyrical video, where we find tens of musicains weaving violins continuously. This song is apure bliss, like the idiom 'Hardwork always pays off', we can find Thaman's toil here. Srimani is brilliant. Kaala Bhairava, 'Baahubali' fame singer has got the required hype & is getting the routine genres from then, but it does'nt mean he has aced all of them, there are lot many things for him to improve in this song, he sounded dumb & he was just rendering the phrases in a high pitched tone with null expression. If not for that, Shreya Ghoshal here is an assert for the song, she sounded perfect & brilliant. The amount of expression that she pours in is heart warming & the quality of tone she has is indescribable. Took a bow for you're rendition maam!! The ease with which she brings in those dynamics is laudable. Overall a great song.
