"Vaantha Raajavathaan Varuven" is an upcoming Tamil language film casting Simbhu, Megha Akaash & Catherine in lead roles along with Ramya Krishnan, Prabhu & Suman as other actors. Directed by Sundar C under Lyca Productions banner.
It's a remake of Telugu blockbuster "Attarintiki Daredi" -2013directed by Trivikram, which featured 'Powerstar' Pawankalyan & Samantha & film was a huge success & was an "INDUSTRY HIT" breaking all the records & which set a new definition for Telugu films. Now let's wait and see whether this film too will carry it's legacy or not.
Coming to music, Hipop Tamizha has been roped to compose music. As per comparison in music, even it shouldn't sound mediocre coz' Telugu album was a huge success, which was composed by Devi Sri Prasad. So, let's see what Hipop has done.
01. Red Cardu
Vocalists: STR, Hipop Tamizha & Snigdha
Lyricist: Arivu
Rating: 3.5/5
This is a party song. Hipop Tamizha who can literally rock these types, has been a bit rigid here. He has put himself within the limitations of remaking a song & has tried to bring in the same elements of Telugu party song, as he hasn't opt to remake tunes, he should have gone with his own template rather than being influenced. However track soundsneat with the required amount of drums & percussions. All the vocalists sounded good. Lyricist did his job. Overall a song that can be entertaining if at all matched with visuals.
02. Paraivagal
Vocalists: Sanjith Hedge & Hipop Tamizha
Lyricist: Hipop Tamizha
Rating: 4/5
This is that powerful intro song of the hero with a melodious cover. Hipop has taken almost 80% of the tune from the original & has programmed it with all his signature traits. He has induced a rap & some folk beats to the song. Almost it sounded like a fusion. Irrespective of what is being sung, " You know who we brought on the track, it's STR" keeps looping on till the end to embrace his fans. Coming to that melodious cover in tuning it's because of the original song, which had a lot of mellow notes in it. However in comparison to that this song isn't that great. Moreover it sounded like a remix of it. Sanjith sounded awful. Hipop was perfect.
03. Pattamarangal
Vocalists: Sanjith Hedge, Rakshitha Suresh & Sreenidhi S
Lyricist: Hipop Tamizha
Rating: 4.5/5
Coming to third single, it's a classical swag. Hipop showcases with this that he can swift b/w genres just like that. A music director who is known for his folk , mass & rap songs & one cannot expect a perfect Carnatic from him, but contrary to all those thoughts he does this masterpiece with flying colors out. All the vocalists sounded brilliant & sonorous. Lyrics take their part. Overall a great song.
04. Modern Muniyamma
Vocalists: Anthakudi Ilayaraajaa & Sreenisha
Lyricist: Arivu
Rating: 4/5
This song is that folk exuberance, which we all are expecting from Hipop. This is again a reused tune from Telugu film 'Krishnarjunna Yudham' & song is 'Daari Choodu' composed by Hipop himself. I didn't know what's the reason behind reusing this track, but however it sounds spectacular when caught with right visuals. Anthakudi is ok in the track, but Sreenisha alone sounded out of the box. Arivu's lyrics are situational. At last, did I like- Yes, will I recommend it- Yes.
05. Onna Rendu
Vocalists: Senthil Ganesh, V M Mahalingam & Sathya Narayan
Lyricist: Kabilan Vairamuthu
Rating: 3.5/5
This is a raw intense male solo, again that has been inspired from the original yet doesn't sound creepy. Lyricist has done a great job, all the phrases sound poetic with a sensous ting. Hipop has the same background score for all the songs, which make melody to sound like a folk song, that is what makes him unique however. All the vocalists did a commendable job.
06. Vaanga Machha - Remix
Vocalists: P.Leela & Koushik Krish
Lyricist: Hipop Tamizha
Original Lyricist: Ramaiah Dass
Original Music: Ramnathan
Rating: 5/5
The album bids a finale with the much grandeur 'Vaanga Machha' remix version , which is an yesteryear's hit song. This is how remixed or rehashes should sound, when music directors aim, not to spoil the soul of the song, then that turns to be a blockbuster remix. Hipop aces in that context. Originally it was sung by Leela amma & they kept her voice intact even here, so that the soul of the song is pellucid. Its great to listen to that lost legend again in contemporary films. Hipop added all the extravaganza to the song which sounded midling yet perfect. Lyrics are sublime. Koushik Krish along with others rendered the song in an energetic manner.
