Happy B'day To The Singing Legend: SPB

S.P.Balasubrahmanyum also known as SPB, S.P.Balu is one such singer , when thought about him whole India rises it's head in pride. This singing legend / living legend doesn't need any introduction nor any hype, he has already proven to India what his potential is. This 73 year old voice sounds always like the evergreen 16, because his voice has just got a number but it'll  never get older in its terms.

This wonder machine born on June 3, 1946 in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh into a Telugu speaking orthodox Brahmin family.  At a very tender age he has developed interest towards music, later he has discontinued his engineering for getting into music & if that would'nt have happened we would have definitely missed a golden era with a golden voice.

SPB know for his tonal quality, expression & the most important trait his Golden voice which is just like honey. Today that voice turns 73, sir here is "MUSIC EDITZZZ" wishing you a very happy birthday with lot of love, & praying for your'e wealth, health, prosperity & everything you wish. And here's a write up as a tribute from our side.

SPB  has won 6 National awards, 6 filmfare awards, 1 bollywood filmfare award & an whooping 25 times Nandi award winner with numerous state awards from Tamil Nadu & Karnataka governments too. He has recorded 40,000+ songs in 16 Indian languages!! & the list of achievements go on.

He has even been conferred with Padmashree(2001) & Padma Bhushan(2011) by Indian Government. He has won Guiness Book of records for being the most recorded artist in history.

As out of 40,000 songs, we cannot select any few & review them, its really a difficult task, so I have selected few jukeboxes  as a tribute for the legend.

This jukebox by Aditya music label, is my most favorite playlist. SPB is a legend of Telugu language & indeed Telugu language itself is indebted for his talent. Dont know what all words can describe his greatness, we fall short in words, phrases, sentences everything in description of youre' aura sir!! Simply this playlist can be anyone's recreation in their leisure or stressed times. SPB's voice has been the voice of TELUGU, there might be no telugu person who would have not known his name. He has been in everyone's house & heart too, one must be really too blessed to be born like him. He has been part of our daily routine too, I think there goes no day of mine without listening to his phenomenal voice. The most number of songs sung by SPB after Telugu is Tamil, who would have not know this golden voice all over south india? probably none. We have seen eras & reigns in historic times, but we can even name this period, especially (1980-1995) as SPB's era. He was the only choice for music directors a decade back for any genre. There was'nt a film without featuring his voice in late 1980's. He has been the voice of Kamla Hassan & Rajinikanth, even till date Rajinikanth wants SPB to sing his title songs, starting for yesteryear's "oruvan oruvan" till yesterday's "Massu maranam" it's that magnetic voice which captured the listeners attention.Even Tamizhians are indebted to this legend for his amazing contribution to Indian film music. SPB is just a Pan-Indian character. Once gain a many happy returns of the day Bala sir!!

How majestic is it to just write that combo's name- "SPB -S.JANAKI - ILAIYARAAJA HITS" this combo has the record of creating records & sensation in South Indian film industry. SPB himself is a legend, who can compete with himself & does'nt need any other competitors, but this "Kuyil" Janakiamma is another perfect example to showcase how a female sound should sound, when you sing with a legend, King of genres(SPB). There are yet people who can go bonkers listening to their golden voices & when the mastero joins the show, what else can any music lover expect?? everybody with ears are blessed, because we can just listen to that honey coated voices & mastero's talent. Janakiamma deserves a standing ovation for every song in the jukebox, that voice not again!! there came 1000 other films after her, there came 1000's of songs after her, there came 100's of singers after her, but none could reach her perfection nor sound like her. That's her greatness. With a whole heart on this auspicious day, it's a tribute to the legends!! Thank you for happening for us.

When we talk about combinations, we have witnessed "Md.Rafi-Lata", "KishoreKumar-Lata","Ghantasala-Susheela", "SPB-Susheela", "SPB-Janaki", "SPB-Chitra", & out of 6 greatest combinations we find SPB's name in 3 combo's, that's his prowess. He has been a male choice for male lead in late 1970's, 1980's & 1990's too!! do you think is it really possible for any singer to sing tirelessly for more than 35 years & yet get a chance to sing in new films now & then!! probably if you think who it is, it's none other than the legend SPB!! If that's aside, this magical combination , 'India's favorite duet combination'- SPB-Chitra Duo . I think there are no singers like them who have sung hundereds & thousands of songs in 6 different languages as a duo (Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam & bengali), we can easily spot some evergreen songs of theirs in all the above mentioned languages.

Whether it's 'Saathiya Tune Kya Kiya' / 'O Priya Priya' / 'Anjali Anjali' / 'Sundare Vasundare' / 'Thaarapatham' it's their magical voices which would be embraced. This 'Chinna Kuyil' has been a greatest part of his journey & part of our lives too. I can never evr think of any other combo who can replace them. Legends!! they are legends!! SPB is such a singer in India who has won National awards in 4 different languages(Hindi, Telugu, Tamil & Kannada), so there is no wonder in telling that he is the most celebrated singer in India. His voice has got no boundaries with age nor language nor genres. He is a 'wonder machine' as I told before, don't know how he could express so well in every language he sings!! Really India is very lucky to witness that legend. there are many songs that he has sung in Hindi, but 'Bahut pyaar karte' from 'Saajan' remains as cult classic, the way he renders, especially the way he says the word 'aaroozoo' makes the listeners go bonkers. Thank you for everything sir!!
