It's always a celebration to listen to the albums composed by the legend, the god of music himself- Ilaiyaraaja Avargal. 'Thamezharasan' is an upcoming tamil language film featuring Vijay Anthony & Ramya Nambesan at lead roles, directed by Babu Yogeshwaran.
Ilaiyaraaja is roped in to compose music for this film, no wonder in saying that this movie has come into limelight because of the legend!! He might have composed for 1000 films & yet he has got a stardom & fanbase who could just wait to watch him compose another 1000 films. Iam excited & blessed to fare an album of his compositions!! "Long live Raaja avargal" !! Let's directly fare the album.
01. Thamizhanoda Veeramellam
Vocalists: Sid Sriram & Chorus
Lyricist: Arp. Jayaram
Rating: 4/5
Here's an out & out local kuththu song for all the 'Thamizh' Patriots. What else can one expect for, when Raaja is at the helm & bringing in the old charm with all the vintage ting. One is easily reminded of "Thai Pongalo" song listening to this, loved every part of this track!! Arp.Jayaram has got all the ducks in row with penning an extraordinary tamizh number, no matter how many songs are made on rich heritage of tamizh, every new song becomes a sensation results in adrenaline rush!! If music & lyrics lended their hand in hand, Sid Sriram came as a surprise!! Usually, known for romantic renderings Sid has got something different here & does it flying colors out. His rendition is one of the main reasons for the song's sustain. Will I atlast recommend it, No way!! Coz IAM no one to recommend such masterpieces, just enjoy the aura.
02. Yaavum Yaavumey
Vocalists: V.V.Prasanna & Vaibhavari
Lyricist: Arp. Jayaram
Rating: 3.5/5
This is a romantic ballad with lot of brilliance showcased at instrumentation. I don't know from where is he getting all these tunes on this contemporary gen, everything is out of the world. One will be surely in awe for every note in the song. Nothing is beaten harshly or electronically or auto tuned, everything is simple, lovely & natural & that's how it should be!! A melody at it's best with Raaja showering his clinges. I have nothing more to speak about the track, just enjoy the essence.
03. Paakkuruppo Paakkuruppo
Vocalist: Ilaiyaraaja & Neeti Mohan
Lyricist: Arp. Jayaram
Rating: 3.5/5
Here's one more romantic track. If you're a fan of his melodies, then get ready to go into trans. This track is such a peasant beauty. It has got it's charm & exuberance. As, everyone knows how good he's at composing melodies & this one is one more into such golden treasury. He is the only composer who knows so well to select singers for kind of his songs, Neeti just sounds angelic, like he knew which song suits to Shreyaghoshal or Chitra or Janaki or Sadhana, here he knew that Neeti would just kill it. For his fans, he has sung it in his husky voice which also added points to the track like icing on a cake. This song is one more from Raaja for sure!! That haunting chorus needs a pat on their back, they just had the soul for the track.
04. Neethan En Kanavu
Vocalist: S.P.Balasubrahmaniyum
Lyricist: Paazhani Bhaarathi
Rating: 3/5
This is a melancholic number completely in Raajas' style. This is purely situational, might be this sounds outdated to contemporary listeners, but it cannot be any better. Raaja on the board & SPB at vocals, what a combination!! Truly we all are blessed, to witness such legendary show. If lyricist struggled to give all the best, SPB just made himself comfortable & sung this effortless like always. Track is very Raaja thing, his fans should be celebrating this!! Nothing can be said, just thankyou to SPB & Raaja Avarhgal for happening to us🙏
05. Poruththadu Podum
Vocalist: K. J. Yesudas & Chorus
Lyricist: Arp. Jayaram
Rating: 3.5/5
Here's a song which is on a high voltage, it's a rage number. Couldn't get through the situation in the film, but this track had lot of intensity & spirit. Jayaram with his lyrics took the song to a different level. One can witness that rustic percussions of which Raaja is always fond of. As I already told, he's the one who can get the right singers onto the board, here's Yesudas at his personal best!! What a way of rendering the song. Sir , took a bow!! Just he has not lost any energy or spirit, his voice tells everything. Ilaiyaraaja at 76 & Yesudas at 79 recreating yesteryear's magic, is something jaw dropping. Every present generation artist, has to learn something from them- their dedication & sinceraty to their profession. Once again Iam no one to recommend masterpieces.
