AAA 3
AAA- 3
I hope, all of you are safe at your houses, enjoying quarantine though it's quite boring. So, at this tough times fighting against the deadly virus, spreading positivity, motivating ourselves and our families we need a break to break the chain. So, here's the uber cool & most loved series "AAA"- amazingly about the artist with one more artist from Indian music field. This month, we brought in the greatest singer, no the beautiful singer, no no the most versatile singer,no no no the amazingly talented singer!!..!!, how can I tag her?!! Shes' just awesome, the melody queen of Indian cinema- "Shreya Ghoshal"
What would I speak about an artist, who was rendering songs of Lataji at the age of 4!! This immensely talented artist, began to learn music in Classical at the age of 6 & no wonder in saying that, at the age of 16 she has bagged the title of "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" TV music reality show. Shreya Ghoshal born into a Bangla speaking Hindu family, is reigning Indian musical industry like a queen, I can even mention, that shes' the only singer after Lataji who would have been enjoying such great legacy in Indian Cinema.
Shreya is one such singer, who can record any sort of genre within the first take itself. I remember that she spoke about her first song in Devdas- "Bairi Piya", where she was asked to rehearse it overnight & record it the next morning, but Shreya just closed her eyes & sang the entire song without even a single break, which made the cast & crew members to stand in astonishment, she is such a talent!! May be Shreya is one such great singer & the most luckiest to have been recorded with the most celebrated artists in India with her first album itself, in Devdas she was seen being featured along side the veterans Kavitha Krishnamoorthy, Udit Narayan & KK. Talking about her career span, there is no other artist like her who would have built an entire empire itself within a very short span!! Kuddos, salute, namasthe, bow & every sort of respect to the singing legend.
Shreya also referred to as "Modern-age Lata Mangeshkar" , proves that statement to be true in every aspect. Lataji who is respected all over India, for her absolutely brilliant crystal clear mellifluous renditions has put every music lover into trans, her melodious songs & sheer brilliance in expressive renditions made her an artist who has become an idol to almost every aspiring singer now or then, such is the bequest of that legend, then speaking about this versatile off-screen princess (the way I call her), coz she has the capacity to cast magical spell with her renditions, so I consider her as off-screen princess, so this melody queen like Lataji, (no comparison definitely) but seems like she's also into her path. May be in a decade or two, every budding singer might take this nightingale as their inspiration!!
Coming to the versatility, may be Shreya is the only singer in India who would have sung in almost all southern languages of India & not only that, Shreya just makes those regional speakers -accept that Shreya too belongs to the same language that she sings in. Consider one particular instance, will you be able to find atleast one singer from North, who is as successful as Shreya with their south language renditions??!! No way, Sadhna Sargum or Kavitha Krishnamoorthy would join the league, cause they too sang many south film songs, but they could'nt make such impact that Shreya made. Hold your breath, Shreya is the only singer in south with max.no.of Filmfare awards south, a whooping no.of.times (10 times) & with 44 nominations!! Just thats' euphoria right?? Shreya has won multiple awards, which might sum upto 160 awards in and all!!
Her list of achievements is just endless & one will definitely need 3-4 articles to list out & speak about them, Am not daring enough to do all such things!! Pl, excuse me. And what else can I talk about her eminence. Talking about her fluency in singing all south Indian songs with ease, she credits that jaw-dropping talent to the southern sensation "K.S.Chithra"!! She says Lataji & Chithraji were huge parts of influences in her singing style. Shreya opines "Chithra ji being a Keralite, sings in utmost 10 or more languages with damn perfection, so she gets motivated by that quality of Chithra, which might have shaped Shreya into a hard-core south indian singer too".. how nice of her, that she equally respects talents!!
Shreya enjoys an aura of singing in multiple languages & recording with multiple music directors. So, here's an amazing write up, about the most talented Shreya Ghoshal.
Check it out, review on 8 songs that will make you all fall for her melodious tone & 8 songs which showcase that she's protean.

01. Sun Raha Hai Na
Movie: Aashiqui 2- (2012)
Music : Ankith Tiwari
Music : Ankith Tiwari
Lyrics: Sandeep Nath
Language: Hindi
This song & her voice, what else on this earth can match to that flamboyance!! Don't know, whether the unit has composed it for Shreya Ghoshal or whether Shreya sang it in such a way that she owns this song. There is only one Arijith Singh, one Shreya Ghoshal & one Sun Raha Hai, the triumph that this song has foreseen owes it's credits to the vocalists definitely. There may not be any other song of Shreya Ghoshal other than this, where she is as melodious as this one. May be she swallowed some ice along with honey while recording this song, which made her voice melodious yet jubilant. We all are blessed to get to listen to such gems.
In an instance, Adithya Roy peers at Lataji's photo, while Shraddha's lip syncing Shreya's song, indicating that she is as sweet as Lataji, unquestionably that's what we all would have felt when Shreya sang those dynamics. However a great song, a cult classic, that will be etched in our hearts forever.
02. Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka
Movie: Devdas- (2000)
Music: Ismail Darbar & Monty Sharma
Music: Ismail Darbar & Monty Sharma
Lyrics: Nusrat Badr
Language: Hindi
Is this the first song of that veteran? Implausible, but that's the fact!! Shreya keeps proving that she sounds matured each & every time, even now, whenever she sings this song in any of her concerts, there is no doubt in saying that concert hall turns into a stadium & keeps cheering for that queen!! I dont' know what else to be written about this classic, this can just be quoted as "Shreya Ghoshal's anthem", she is that perfect & melodious. Shreya's voice is almost similar to that Chitra chechi, her initial songs almost sounded like Chitra chechi sang them, may be due to almost similar attitude of singing songs. Especially, towards the end of song where she takes the song to a different elevation through her high pitched rendition of "O Piya, mere piya"!! A song that is nostalgic, brings back all those early 20's days back!!
03. Ninaithu Ninaithu
Movie: 7G Brindavan Colony- (2004)
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
Language: Tamil
Such a tough song!! Is'nt it!! But who would make it sound as simple as a cake walk, other than the off-screen princess. Probably none. This song & Yuvan's yesteryear style of composing makes us recollect some good-old memories, we are immediately reminded of 'Yededo Ennam Valarthen' song of Ilaiyaraaja sir. Especially, that first stanza, it sounds almost the same. So, is'nt it that difficult to sing such breath-taking song!! So, talking about this epic song, in my opinion this is one of the toughest songs that Shreya has ever sung. If, you are a fan of Shreya & did'nt listen to this, don't say that youre' a fan of Shreya !!
04. Chali Chaliga
Movie: Mr. Perfect- (2013)
Music: Devisri Prasad
Lyrics: Anantha Sriram
Langugae: Telugu
Have you ever heard of this tagline- "Utterly butterly delicious", likewise I'll tag line this song- "Utterly butterly melodious"!! Shreya's voice in this song is just like honey. Like there's a saying "sugar always finds it's place in glass full of milk", by the same token Shreya always makes the song even more melodious with her damn brilliant voice. Shreya's voice has an ethereal quality with a strident pitch, which makes it a unique & un-paralleled voice. If you ask me, where her voice is super melodious, then that is this song.
05. Barsore Megha
Movie: Guru- (2007)
Music: A. R. Rahman
Lyrics: Gulzar
Language: Hindi
One more toughest songs of Shreyaji. This song has such a low octave, that we will be in a skepticism that we might not hear to any sound & any other note while the singer is singing. But, there is no scope for such uncertainties when Shreya Ghoshal is on the board. Rahman is one such composer who always aces in making songs sound best in quality & when Shreya joins the hands, it's a feast for ears. Definitely, Rahman sir, made this song a typically compliacted one, though it can be made simple, coz it's his style. As the best song, goes to the beast singer,Shreya has sung it & we are fluky to get to listen to such epics.
06. Neramayi
Movie: Poomaram- (2018)
Music: Faizal Razi
Lyrics: Ajeesh Dasan
Language: Malayalam
Malayalam is such a difficult language to speak, but Shreya being a lead singer after Chithra chechi following her legacy is really praiseworthy. So, if at all you wonder how many songs she would have sung in Malayalam, take a breath she might have sung atleast above 300 no.s & this composition is absolutely delightful, there is something special about this number, may be the composition, or lyrics or vocals, but this song makes a place in our heart. Shreya is damn mellifluent. If you all have missed this gem, just listen to it, then thank me later for the recommendation.
07. Aha Entha Aa Kshana
Movie: Aakash- (2005)
Music: R. P. Patnaik
Lyrics: K. Kalyan
Language: Kannada
As I said, Shreya is a versatile genius!! No language barrier, she can just cross any barriers to prove that she belongs only to music & only to music. To bring to view her talent & versatility, this song is a solid example. This mellifluous track of R.P.Patnaik, gives goosebumps. There is one more version of this song, sung by the legendary Chitraji, whom Shreya admires alot as a singer. There is no comparison, both the versions sound unique in their own styles. Just enjoy the essence.
08. Onnavida
Movie: Virumandi- (2004)
Music: Ilaiyaraaja
Lyrics: Kamal Hassan
Language: Tamil
Ilaiyaraaja, the maestro, king of melodies, makes sure that his honey-coated tunes get the best vocalists. In to the bargain, Shreya might be the only singer who might have impressed Raaja sir like never before. his latest songs are all rendered by this veteran. I usually enjoy this kinds, with a folk ting & melodious music & some rustic vocals. Generally, Tamizh cinema has seen many of this kinds, especially Janaki amma- Ilaiyaraaja songs were of this genre & audience believe that this is the best combo ever, Shreya joins the league, with this song. The great actor Kamal Hassan is an occasional singer too, & all the songs that he has sung were rage hits. If you did'nt listen to this, then make sure you'll do listen to it.
