AAA- 5

Hello my dear viewers,  we are back!! Hoping that everyone is doing fine. I guess you all are thoroughly enjoying this series? Your love & support is a boost up to my unending spirit to write more & more. We are always fascinated in knowing more about our favorite people, so this is my humble attempt to put in all the wonderful artists together & share thoughts about those bygone days. Every month it gives me immense pleasure to share about contrivances of indeed some great artists who have been constantly striving to make a pellucid mark in Indian musical era.  In this generation where words have almost become robotic & where as writings have already become sporadic, yet we get to read some good novels & substantial literature works  which prove that literature hasn't become lamented!! So, as I already told & I dont' like making my oeuvres sound monotonous, yet again saying it this is my humble attempt in restoring back those wonderful good olden days where reading books was a passion & writing or sharing thoughts with a penmanship spirit (however that might sound ridiculous, coz nowadays every thing is penned digitally). So in trying my hand at such restoration, this idea of writing about various Indian singers, music related personalities has struck my mind.

Okay, now moving on to this month's artist -it's about an "extraordinary voice which can put the sobbing babies to sleep just like that & it's a voice which just resembles voice of angels or Gods, it's about a voice which is just absolutely melodious" & it's a voice which is usually compared to as the "Magical Voice"..... I know you all guessed it right, it is about the incredible- VIJAY YESUDAS.

Being the descendant of the legendary "Dr. K. J. Yesudas", Vijay has acquired the knowledge in music & frankly speaking maximum shade of his father's voice.  Coming from such a family where music was the only part of their integral lives, it is not a wonder that Vijay grew up like his father & turned up to be a professional who can just create wonders with his voice. Vijay needs no introduction & his vocals need no praises, the world knew him a way before.

Like people say being heirs of great people would definitely be a fetching & all the chances would come their way unasked.  But that's a wrong thought, it is just a misconception. May be their introduction or debut is the easiest one due to their vogue, but whosoever might be their ancestors, they are no where when they don't have enough talent. The only way to sustain in this industry is through their talent & hard-work & nothing else matters. That too there is no point of criticizing Vijay Yesudas under the name of negotiation, coz he is a father's man, his voice is almost or why not say much similar to K. J. Yesudas, then don't you think that it would be a hectic job to prove his own identity?? Same happened here, though Vijay had a mark of legendary Yesudasji's voice on his tone, he eventually came out of the shell & started singing with his own style & proved that nothing is impossible. Just inspiring right!! We have Mano who sings like SPB, we have Siddharth Mahadevan who sounds like Shankar Mahadevan, next we have Sunitha who exactly sounds like Chitra & many others who just has got these traits unknowingly into them, that's not their fault unless they don't try to come out of such fake identities, but all the above mentioned clones proved to be successful in their paths in-spite of being criticized for cloning the acclaimed voices.

So, this is how Vijay set forth his path straight, he sang in his own style, all the chances came his way & now he is the most celebrated singer in Kerala. Talking about his origin, he is born into a family of musicians whose mother-tongue is Malayalam & he has done his schooling at Chennai, later moved on to US for further studies. Like I said, he is father's man, he has come back to India & got himself trained in Indian- Classical & Semi- Classical & later on shifted his focus on trying his luck in Indian- Filmi music. Like mentioned before, his debut was just a dream, it's so easy- Vidyasagar gave him a chance to sing in the Malayalam movie 'Millenium Stars'  released in 2000, where he got an oppurtunity to sing all the songs in the album & from then he never turned back again, till now he had recorded hundreds of songs to many music directors in all the south Indian languages & also in Hindi too.

This voice is utterly butterly melodious!! I have no rights to tag his voice, this crystal clear voice which can just render the most difficult dynamics in much easier way has all the accolades to his credit. He is an occasional actor too. He has debuted through a Tamil Dhanush starrer- Maari, where he played the role of antagonist. He has even done a film as a lead role in Tamil & Malayalam- Padaiveeran!! & guess he is a part of upcoming 3d thriller - Salmon 3d. So, there are many things that this multi-talented wonderboy has done. I'll let them one by one in the due course of the article.

Now, going through his journey, we are dripped in the dew drops of honey & eventually will be sailing on the harmony of angels & finally the cloud-9 & seventh heaven unite to put up a show of boffo. Vijay has such spectacular voice which can capture the hearts of listeners. All the credits to his amazing voice which is a mix of melody & ample talent. If your'e a fan of his voice, then this article is for you, coz A'm a big fan of him too.

Here are 6 songs of Vijay that'll screw your ears with his ethereal vocals. Listen to this songs of Vijay & read about them which prove that this Jr. Yesudas is truly a synonym of melody.

01. Adharam Madhuram

Album: Sacred Chants Vol- 5
Music : Stephan Devassy
Language: Sanskrit

This popular devotional is from "Madhurashtakam" composed & recited by the 15th century Hindu-Bhakti poet 'Vallabha Acharya'  & attributed to the 'Lord Krishna'. This devotional which is mix of "Devotion & Love", such a sparse genre rendered by many classical singers like M. S. Subhalakshmi, K. J. Yesudas, Nithyashree etc., & also in the same row Vijay Yesudas too has a version to his own impute. Ashtam meaning 8 stanzas, this is such an amazing song on Lord Krishna praising him in deep devotion, infact admiring him with divinity that is fused with love, which is such a typical frame in the 'Bhakti Movement'. The lyricist speaks about 'Madhuram'- sweetness, the poet says that Krishna's "lips are sweet, his face is sweet, his eyes are sweet, his smile , heart, walk & everything is sweet about the lord of sweetness" & goes on describing his sweetness in the next 7 stanzas.
Such sweet song, gets the version of the sweet Vijay Yesudas's vocals. He is just beyond extraordinary in this song. Already his voice is filled with divinity & when he recited this song it just attained an ethereal status. This album is a mixture of many slokas & stotras composed by the whizz-kid 'Stephan Devassy' & this song by Vijay remains as my favorite. If you have ever listened to this excellent song, then you know the excitement that this song gives.  Just a sincere thanks to this man, he always makes us realize that times keep changing but culture & traditions remain the same forever. Just something that can be done is, seriously thanking him. For Full Album- (Sacred Chants Vol- 5)

02. Poomuthole

Movie: Joseph- (2018)
Music: Ranjin Raj
Lyrics: Ajeesh Dasan
Language: Malayalam

'Joseph' this movie is the most populous movie of 2018, which has bagged all the awards may be in every category, a movie that has got depth in its story-line.  Speaking about the music, this song is a sensation- Vijay being awarded with Kerala state award & filmfare & may be many others. I guess he deserved much more for this song, this song really puts us in a different mood, may be the retro styled tuning or his vocals or the lyrics, whatever this song wins at the very first attempt itself. How blessed are we to listen to these gems even in this gen of pop & jazz. Truly in this song Vijay reminds of his father's voice, he just nurtures that vocal quality in this song. Just nothing much about this masterpiece, just dip yourselves in the beauty of his voice.

03. Thoomanju Veena Vazhiye

Movie: 18am Padi- (2018)
Music: Prashanth Prabhakar
Lyrics: Lawrence Fernandez
Language: Malayalam

This song has some montage stunner shots captured with some perplexing camera angles & visuals, when such a situation is the backdrop, then whom do you expect to be the singer other than Vijay Yesudas. Don't you think when the lead character sings a love ballad in his voice, the girl just falls for him!! Such romantic is Vijay's voice!! Lawrence penned some sublime phrases & this canzone kind melody breathes in the voice of Vijay. I said he breathes through the song rather then using 'sings', coz he just puts all his huskiness to bring in a flavor of soft persuasion to the track. Overall, it is one of my all time favorites.

04. Chithirathira

Movie: Charlie- (2015)
Music: Gopi Sundar
Lyrics: Santhosh Varma
Language: Malayalam

'Charlie', a film that can be a suggestion to the one who is starting to watch Malayalam films for the first time, it is such a great film breaking all the records till then. This Dulquer Salmaan starrer has got critical acclaim for it's intense narrative with amazing stills & direction. This film is also known for some of the feel good music ever made in Mollywood too, every song in the film is a gem & especially this song!! Who can just sing this song like Vijay? Probably none!! Listen to the first stanza, 'Maann'- he is just brilliant, that first 30 secs of song where  he sings breathlessly & which seriously indicate that he's a prodigy in music. Gopis' music, Dulquer's screen presence & Vijay's voice- a match made in heaven. In this film, Dulquer is a happy go soul, who loves chilling out & this song is placed in a situation where he is drowning in booze & then some dance happens eventually, so is the song- peppy & foot tapping & Vijay just suits to T. If you never heard about this track, now immediately do listen to it.
Vijay as -Police Inspector in 'Maari'

05. Anuraga Neela

Movie: Paviyettante Madhura Chooral- (2020)
Music: C. Raghunath
Lyrics: Rafeeq Ahmed
Language: Malayalam

Such a melodious track this is!! This song having two versions - a male & a female number. We all know that if it is a melody number, then definitely the female singer  is Chitra chechi & male version goes to Dassettan if it is a slow paced time old song, but for a change Raghunath made Vijay to sing the male version & manifested it to the world that Vijay sounds no less than his father. I think this is the most underrated song, it has got very less approval in the market, but I feel pity how views go on to some cringe songs & such gems are always overlooked. It's no late now, let this song shine & let Jr. Yesudas's voice move away your hearts.

06. Malare

Movie: Premam- (2015)
Music: Rajesh Murugesan
Lyrics: Sabreesh Varma
Language: Malayalam

How could I end this article without this song? It would be a blunder if at all I have done it, but no chance, it is here!! Vijay Yesudas & this song, aren't they scripted by the almighty himself? unequivocally the answer is yes. Nivin Pauly, Sai Pallavi, Premam, Vijay & that montage visualization, how bewildering it is?? & his vocals how breathtaking they are?? My god, I might fall in under-supply of words to describe this epic song & film. However though, I cannot talk much coz you all know much more about this song.

At last, thanking Vijay Yesudas- the youth sensation of our times definitely, we will be telling our kids about him for sure.
