Mookuthi Amman Audio Review- Tamil (2020)

 Movie: Mookuthi Amman- 2020 (மூக்குத்தி அம்மன்)

Director: R. J. Balaji

Producer: Ishari K. Ganeshan

Cast: "Lady Superstar" Nayanathaara, R. J. Balaji, Urvashi & Others

Music: Girrishh Gopalakrishnan

Lyricist: Pa. Vijay

Music Label: Think Music India

"Mookuthi Amman" is an upcoming Hindhu devotional comedy Tamil film hitting the small screen on Nov 14 via Disney+Hotstar . Starring Nayanathaara- the lady superstar & many others.

R. J. Balaji, the LKG fame directed is back with yet another controversial concept & that too targeting the local political parties, so let's wait & see how far is this going to succeed. Film ought to be released somewhere in may itself got postponed due to the pandemic & has got an oppurtunity to hit the OTT platform at least now.

Keeping all the surprises & astonishing factors to the audience, let's now directly fare the album. Music is composed by Girrishh Gopalakrishnan (G. G) who has succeeded in doing so, as per my opinion. Album appears to be a mix of devotional & fast beat- com as per the prerequisite & we have few surprises too. The legendary singer L. R. Eshwari & yesteryear sensational composer Deva get to croon two of the tracks, which really amazes the listeners. Like RJ's previous film has got an choice to record P. Susheela amma, Vani amma & Eshwari avarkal, this film has alsobrought back some retro vibes. So with no late lets see what it has in the store.

A'm excited, its been many days doing any sort of activity in my blog & for a change- "A'm back!! let's rock my dear peeps!!" Sorry for all the delay, was really busy with hectic of other works. I read all your mails & DMs but did'nt have that much time to react to all your messages, so sorry for that & assuring all of you that A'm back to the board.

01. Mookuthi Ammanku- Title Song

Vocalists: L. R. Eshwari & Chorus
Rating: 3.5/5

Here is the first song with all that pomp & color that is required to elevate the "Lady Superstar" Nayanathaara as "Mookuthi Amman" & the composer literally aces through that! I think we have got one more song into the playlist of "Amman Songs" which are played on a loop during the Navarathri festive season. It's been literally many many long years listening to such powerful devotional tracks in Tamil cinema & R. J takes that headship in bringing back that lost aura of Tamil devotional songs. This song is literally a celebration of Mookuthi Amman & GG has drew in all aspects which could make the song sound as powerful as it can. Though the theme music dominated the song yet the loud chorus overtook the instrumentation, song has never lost its pace. Pa. Vijay's extraordinary lyrics instil that spiritual feel into the listeners, every word struck the ear. Kuddos to the entire team for such great effort.
The most significant part of the song is rendition by L. R. Eshwari. The yesteryear singer who is famous for her devotional songs like "Karpoora Nayagiye", "Chellatha", "Poovadai" etc in & aroud almost entire Tamil Nadu is back to action after a very long time. At the age of 80 this amazing singer spills the fumes of fury via her vocals in this song. What an extrordinary voice & grace- she deserves all the awards this year!! So glad that she sang this amazing number! It is like a gala for all her fans. One realizes that she has not lost any magic in her voice even at 80 while listening to that last stanza where she literally showcased herself as "Bhadarakaali" with her furious expression!!

02. Aatha Solra

Vocalists: Nakash Aziz
Rating: 2/5

Second track is a click- listen & forget number. Though GG had some great interludes it could'nt help the song. May be this is a song fitting RJ's character in the film or something that is used as a background track in the film. Neither Nakash Aziz added any additional help to the song. It is a normal song & has no loop value.

03. Paarthene- Amman Song

Vocalists: Jairam Balasubrahmanium
Rating: 3/5

Here is a pure devotional for that Amman. How nice is it to listen to such tracks in this generation where people have forgotten the real meaning of "Bhakthi (Devotion)" & as I mentioned already RJ has taken the headship to bring back that lost vibes & he is on that mission, wishing him all the success!! GG has composed a track which gives us a feeling of complete spirituality, song is a peasant beauty- it might sound outdated to almost all the contemporary gen listeners- but it cannot be any better.

04. Chandai Alangaari

Vocalists: Aruna Sairam
Rating: 3/5

This is the Tamil interpretation of "Aygiri Nandini" & GG brings it out with flying colors. Pa. Vijay too has aced through his part. I don't  know if - all these songs would be used as a background to elevate the  Nayanathaara's portray as Mookuthi Amman, but they sound great & result in adrenaline rush.

05. Saami Kulasaami

Vocalists: Deva
Rating: 3/5

The legend- "Thenisai Thendral" Deva- the "King Of Gaanaa genre" is back with yet another amazing folk number & it is a cake walk for him. Everything goes hand in hand, right from the tuning to lyrics to rendition. Each time he says "Thappa aah taappa" it sounds too sonsorous. Glad that RJ has brought back so many memories.

06. Bhagawathi Baaba

Vocalists: Antony Dassan
Rating: 2/5

For all those folks waiting for that comedy part in the film here is an entire song for all of you! This is a song describing the attire of so called- Bhagawathi Baba who keeps cheating innocent with his creepy tricks in the name of religion & his character is very neatly highlighted through the song & kuddos to the entire team for choosing such sensitive issues & bravely bringing them onto the floor. Antony keeps that energy intact throughout the song, it might appeal with visuals, but has no reapaet value.

Picks Of The Album: Mookuthi Amman, Paarthene & Chandai Alangaari

OVERALL RATING: 6/10

MARK THE DATE- NOV 14- MOOKUTHI AMMAN IS COMING ALL YOUR WAY, GLUE YOURSELVES TO WITNESS A POWERFUL SHOW ON DISNEY+HOTSTAR.
