01. Thooriga
Music & Vocals: Karthik
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
Rating: 4.5/5
Thooriga is such a breezy number with some lilting orchestration & soft vocals. Karthik rocks with his debut itself. The interludes are complete interpretation of yesteryear's number "Ninnu Kori Varnam". Song stays on that soft mellow note giving some vintage vibes with Suriya in his personal best (Uber cool looks) & GVM brings back those Vaaranam Aayiram days with his templates, So then Karthik too didn't give up in matching the euphoria. Every time he sang "Thooriga Thooriga, En Saariga Saariga" my heart literally screamed in merry, its too good. all the interludes are interpreted with Ilaiyaraaja's Ninnu Kori Varanam as told, thos interludes deserve a gold medal for making all of us nostalgic by making all of us realize how good were all those songs & the creators- Manirathnam, Ilaiyaraaja, Vaali & performers Karthik, Amala, K. S. Chithra. This song from agni Natchatiram has a seperate fan base, no show of IR or Chithra proceeded without this track. Thanks to the entire team for such good number.
02. Bleeding Of The Heart
Music: Sundaramamurthy K. S
Vocals: Vrusha Bala
Lyrics: Soundaryarajan
Rating: 3/5
Here's an intense female number with some sinister feel. Vrusha Balu does a commendable job, yet felt like Shwetha Mohan singing it. Dont' know from which episode is this song, but has that impact to tell some crucial part of the plot. Let's wait & watch! Nothing much, a background score kinda song.
03. Yaatho
Music: Govinda Vasantha
Vocals: Chinmayi
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
Rating: 3/5
One more intense female solo like the above one, dont' know the backdrop but tells some crucial part of the plot. Chinmayi does the prerequisite. She's just awesome like usual. Govinda goes back to that 96 kind composition, no particular rhythm pattern nor any progressions, directly a melody with few piano notes & that's his signature however, yet song might appeal with visuals.
04. Kannunjal
Music: Justin Prabhakaran
Vocals: Sudha Raghunathan
Lyrics: Uma Devi
Rating: 3.5/5
Absolute brilliance & such a different track for sure, prefect blend of Kerala Chenda Melam & Tamizh Carnatic!! Justin deserves the pat for such good number & who else could sing it like a pro other than the much capable Sudha Raghunathan, it was really a great experience to listen to the adroit again in the film music!!
05. Navarasa Theme
Performed By: A. R. Rahman
Rating: 4/5
A perfect justification for the title, what else can one expect when the maestro himself has come on to the shore to give an absolutely stunning instrumental. No words, his orchestration struck every chord like it already hit the artists in the film who performed for the Navarasa trailer with few different expressions & no hindrance in saying ARR's music eased their jobs.
06. Alai Alaiyaga
Music & Vocals: Karthik
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
Rating: 3.5/5
Karthik is a full fledged musician with this number, he has got all the qualities that a composer should have, this is such a balanced melody with simple guitar notes & really really melting vocals. Madhan's words & Karthik's voice blends too well & adds on to the primer coat. If you are waiting for some interesting music & we have Karthik for all of you, he's the brand new composer in the town & he says he has rocked!!
07. The Comrade Theme
Music: Sundaramamurthy K. S
Vocals: Udhay Kannan
Lyrics: Soundaryarajan
Rating: 3/5
One more theme suiting the backdrop, have to wait to unlock the suspense behind such serious composition!! Nothing much again!!
08. Naanum
Music & Vocals: Karthik
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
Rating: 3.5/5
One more from Karthik again, he says it again that he has rocked but for the third time !! Karthik, I dunno how many praises did his soul read & listen too, but lemme say he has the full potential to become a full fledged composer, I repeat!! Eagerly waiting to watch Suriya lip-synch Karthik's rendition, its been a while Karthik singing here & he literally takes the industry by storm with these masterpieces. GVM-Suriya-Harris jayaraj reprised as GVM-Suriya- Karthik!!
09. Adhirudha
Music & Vocals: Karthik
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
Rating: 3.5/5
May be the last one, like the title Navarasa, we have 9 songs with a theme song & this bids the finale to the anthology finale & surprisingly Suriya's episode has got 4 songs!! Adhirudha is again the coolest among coolest melodies with great guitar notes banging chords on the board. Am tired, Karthik- you are a rockstar- ACCEPTED!! Hope he gets to compose such songs again & we get to listen to such many of them too again. It has been a while listening to such fresh & keen music right? And now I feel saturated, Karthik makes my mood, thankyou for happening to us!! It is not that he has composed something extraordinary to others, but it is definitely not the routine stuff that we are heaped upon to listen, it is fresh & good suiting the backdrop & that is what called- FEEL GOOD MUSIC.
