Movie: Annaatthe- 2021 (அண்ணாத்தே )
Director: Siva

Music: D. Imman
"Annaatthe" is an upcoming Tamil Language film slated to release on Nov 4, 2021 on the eve of Diwali. Rajinikanth keeps enthralling his fans with handful of releases every year & this is such musical drama again. If it's Rajini's film , that's it all his fans just go bonkers, it's nothing less than any festival. For surprises, we have the retro theme written all over the film, either the songs, BGM, theme, wardrobe or casting Khusboo & Meena too. Let's wait for the A- Day & watch it's success. Let all the expectations & speculations be with the film itself, but for now let's fare the album.
All the superstar's films always had great music & composers too, say it Ilaiyaraaja, Rahman till Anirudh & now the national award winning Imman. This film has 9 tracks in and all, surprisingly bringing back all the 90's Tamil era in a glimpse. Imman though clones his compositions, but they sound good on ears.
Imman had a package full of singers rocking the album in & out. However 2-3 tracks in the entire album stand out, & surprisingly all of them are situationals!! At one moment any movie goer must be happy, coz superstar has got lot of songs in this film which directly deal with the backdrop & no more they are any commercials & that's great!!
Into the album!!!
01. Annatthe Title Song
Vocalist: S. P. Balasubrahmaniyum & Chorus
Lyricist: Viveka
Rating: 3/5
The superstar's intro song & it's the same song that we expected to be with no twists at all & that's what it is purely. "SPB-Rajini title songs" a combination made by Gods & can never ever be replaceable. May be Padayappa, Annamalai, Basha, Linga, Sivaji, Robo, Petta & the list goes on & on. With this song one more adds to their majestic combo, but the saddest part is this is the last one from their combo & SPB bids a farewell with this Rajini anthem to Tamil music & that is absolutely heart wrenching. How sorrowful it is to even think about, that we cannot have this combination again- forever 🥺. SPB the synonym of Tamil music will always leave this void & that's irreplaceable either. We love you sir & you will be missed forever, whenever we utter your name, it's no more SPB speaking, it is just all his songs singing!! 😌
If you all are crazy about the retro styled Rajini & SPB songs, then for sure this is what you are looking for. Imman had nothing to do, but just wait & watch these legends taking away the credits. Instrumentation was fine, vocals are energetic, but could have been better. Anyways, as mentioned before, if you love SPB-RAJINI then nothing can stop you from loving this track.

02. Thalaivar Rampage
Instrumental
Rating: 2.5/5
Imman will never come out of the loop, his templates sounds the same again & again. A blend of Semma Raja & Viswasam with an Annatthe touch, that's it. A decent BGM. Thalaivar's fans might enjoy it!!
03. Saara Kaatre
Vocalists: Sid Sriram & Shreya Ghoshal
Lyricist: Yugabharathi
Rating: 2.5/5
Again an Imman styled song! But the genre is different one- a furious love ballad. Like always there is lot of much going everywhere in the song, it's quite natural right,Imman makes it that spectacular, no matter which & what song it is. His favourite singers croon the track with lot of brilliance however couldn't help the track much. In my opinion this track can be much better. I also doubt if this track can match Rajini's persona?! Sid Sriram for Rajinikanth- strange isn't it!! But let's wait for the visuals before coming to a conclusion.
04. Marudhaani
Vocalists: Nakash Aziz, Anthony Dasan & Vandana Srinivasan
Lyricist: Mani Amuthavan
Rating: 3/5
A track with full of charm & exuberance. The track which unites almost the entire star-studded cast & a visual treat for sure. Khusboo & Meena swaying leg with Superstar- Aha "Semma feel", all those Muthu & Anamalai days are back. For sure this is the number that we all would be longing for.
Instrumentation is absolutely brilliant, Imman choose his template but engaged well! The prelude was bit cringey, sounded like an advertisement voice over, but rest of the song did really well. Nakash Aziz gets my heart 💖

05. Yennuyire- M 🌟
Vocalist: Sid Sriram
Lyricist: Thamarai
Rating: 3.5/5
An emotional outburst weaved beautiful as a track is here. One of the best songs of the entire album. My god, this song literally made me cry, lyrics, vocals, tuning & everything sounded too great!! Sid Sriram might not suit Rajinikanth in the first love ballad, but this song for sure, he wins right there! Traces of Kannana Kanney, but this track has it's beauty & elegance for sure. Imman- this song is another National award winning material, I never expected such great situational in superstar's film ! Kudos a sure winner though. Sid Sriram, the King of melodies, makes way for some power-packed show, loved his rendition!!

Vocalists: Mukesh Mohammad, Nochipatti Thirumoorthi, Samsutheen & Chorus
Lyricist: Arunbharathi
Rating: 4/5
Another blockbuster song is here, Imaan- proves why he has been chosen for the national acclaim. What else can fans ask for, when Imman literally rocked the number with the Kutthhu beats, I can imagine the situation of fans in theatres when this song's on the screen with the thalaivar's presence. Am in short of words, everything in the song is too brilliant. Singers need the laurels for such power storm renditions!! Overall- "A BLOCKBUSTER SONG"
07. A For Annatthe
Vocalists: Rajinikanth & Arivu
Lyricist: Arivu
Rating: 2.5/5
Ok back to normal after a rampage. A song aimed completely at the masses, Superstar's voice over, a rap & electrifying beats with Kutthhu touch & fans will love it for sure. But it's the same old routine elevation for a music goer.
08. Yennuyire- F 🌟
Vocalist: K. S. Chithra
Lyricist: Thamarai
Rating: 3.5/5
The album bids a finale with one more version of wonderful Yennuyire. This time it's a female cover with the legendary Chithra crooning the track. All the 90's days are back, Padayappa, Annamalai days just reminisce like a flash. Chithra known for portraying wide range of expressions, this song is just a cake walk for her. Literally everyone is in awe for her listening to this number & her voice, isn't this what tamil industry is missing off late?! So, Chithra is here with this track, just took a bow for her prolific rendition.
No comparison, male version stands at its good & female version stands not even an inch lesser than that. Imman- thank you for bringing back Chitramma to Tamil music again, she rocked this time.
