 Movie: Sarkaaru Vaari Paata- సర్కారు వారి పాట  (2022)

Director: Parasuram

Music: S. S. Thamman

Music Label: Saregamapa- Telugu

"Sarkaaru Vaari Paata" the upcoming telugu movie of Superstar 'Mahesh Babu' is a film that is awaiting it's release since last year & finally gets a date locked on it's credit- May 12 in the nearest theaters. Parasuram on the directorial board along with superstar with a commercial rom-com genre is nothing new, but let's wait for what this film has in store for us. The director strictly said- movie is not going to give any lectures or messages to the audience- and that's a positive sign, because one is really heady with Mahesh Babu and his message oriented films. So, let's wait till May 12, to unfold the suspense.

A commercial flicker & what more can we expect from the music department? Slow songs, best melodies, great orchestration, moving songs? Probably none! And in the similar manner, Thamman gets his signature on this commercial flicker with his kind of stamp like usual. I though really had no expectations on this album, because it is offering nothing new, only great stories make great songs & I firmly believe in that! Routine commercial scripts aiming at masses and fans will never have great musical scores, as there is nothing to do with such scripts, already experimented & expecting a variety would be our fault!

Trailer released too was on a repetitive content genre, offered nothing new. but, cannot come to conclusion that easily. Lets' wait for the release. Okay, everything apart- into the album. Anantha Sriram gets a solo card & that's great. Film had 4 songs released & an additional rap song released on the pre-release event. Dunno if the film had more songs, again should wait for the film' release.

01. Kalaavathi

Vocalists: Sid Sriram & Chorus
Rating: 3.5/5

A 'perfect classical melody with folk ting' & this is the genre of which Thamman is always fond of. Appeared very different & fresh, but could do only a part way justice, song had it's own hitches. Sid Sriram's feeble yet powerful classical tone didn't at all gel with Mahesh Babu's screen presence. The classical Nadaswaram as interludes does magic in parts, but cannot hold that magic till the end. Will have to credit the lofty arrangement of heterogeneity in orchestration.  A romantic melody that has already topped charts among the youngsters & social media influencers, song won right there.. In my opinion the arrangement of vocals & synch should have been improved. Apart from the comparison to screen presence and synch to voice, Sid Sriram sounded damn good- his vocal quality is of top notch quality. Lyrics do fine- I mean they are great. "కళ్ళావి కళావతి కల్లోలం అయ్యింది నా గతి " induced different excitement in me! I loved it, but I don't think sid got the lyrics right there, he sounded bit too wired.

02. Penny

Vocalists: Nakash Aziz & Chorus
Rating: 1.5/5

Is this the intro song of the hero? Probably! Talks about his attitude, mannerism & charisma with respect to the character in the film. Lyrics are formulated, what more can we expect in such genres! "చెప్పకురా తోలు తొక్క ?" did I get it right? What did that mean? Did the lyricist intended to tell- "చెప్పకురా తొక్క తోలు "?- whatever- one more cringe of a lyric from the ace lyricist.
Coming to the tuning- is this "OMG Daddy 2.0?" Thamman just programmed his own composition & added few electrifying interludes to daub his snag. I loved the first interlude- it sounded great no doubt, but what about the tuning, audience aren't fools to make out which is which! I will blindly, conclude this as Thamman's tendency to "Copy & Paste" songs! There is also a rap in the song & that too neither catches our ear.

03. Sarkaari Vaari Paata- Title Song

Vocalists: Harika Narayan
Rating: 2/5

One more dull & routine song. Relief point is that at least this song is not of copy-paste genre. A song absolutely for Mahesh' fans. Surprise is that, a female singer gets to sing the most crucial elevation kind song in this commercial flicker. This too didn't impress either. Points to the instrumentation & vocals again.

04. Ma Ma Mahesaa

Vocalists: Sri Krishna, Jointha Gandhi & Chorus
Rating: 3/5

An out & out mass song, which is an obligation in such merchandising films & so this is here. Surprise is that Thamman gets in a melodious dash to this mass song & that really worked out. But, wait before you go in to check this out, there is an infringement problem with this song, not legally, but all the audience had laid one's hand to get this out. Thamman intelligently re-programmed his own composition again- "Blockbuster" song from Sarainodu- entire tune is an absolute resemblance. Appeared like, Thamman just changed his interludes & pasted his own composition to this new orchestration.
But, as the song progresses & coming to the first stanza, Jonitha Gandhi singing the melodious part- brought back few memories 😂 . As soon as she started I dunno why, I remembered Chitra gaaru, not because of the voice- but because of the style & then it reminded me of "Radhe Govinda" song. Some songs & some singers make such great impact that any small imitation or reference of their style will right away bring back them & same happened here, Chitra gaaru, such powerful singer that generations to come will also cherish her legacy & because she sang that Radhe Govinda song in such peculiar style-& Jonitha's singing here is easily mistaken to be an emulation. I dunno, if Thamman intentionally brought in the reference of that song or was it coincidence!
Everything apart, Song however appealed to me. I liked it, this is the only song in the album, which entertains to an extent. Always Mahesh' songs have some hook lines talking about his superhit dialogues like "Mindblockuu" or at least his name is evident like in this song. Fans will enjoy for sure. Ananth plays safe. Sri Krishna- did he forget his basics? What happened to his pronunciation & diction- why is it too bad? "it is మోర ",  "but what is ముర "? I dunno why, it appeared too foreign for me! Jonitha is excellent, after "Halamthi Habbibo" this is again her song! Chorus did fine. On the whole, an entertaining song.

OVERALL RATING: 5/10

PICKS OF THE ALBUM: "None could impress- but partly Kalavathi & Ma Ma Mahesaa will do"
