Hridayam Audio Review- Malayalam (2022)

 Movie: Hridayam- 2022

Director: Vineeth Srinivasan

Cast: Pranav Mohanlal, Darshana & Kalyani

Music: Hesham Abdul Wahab

Music label: Think Music

"Hridayam" the recent Malayalam blockbuster garnered so much of positivity & Am almost 6 months late to the party, but it's ok, I did'nt want you all to miss & regret later.

Music composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab. No late, let's jump in. The tracklist is divided into Side- A & B & also they had a release of audio cassettes & CD's for this film, which is happeining nearly after an entire decade.

SIDE- A

01. Manasse Manasse

Vocalists: Vineeth Srineevasan
Lyricist: Kaithapuram
Rating: 4/5

Who will'nt love this song? Probably only the deaf! That haunting interludes, poetic lyrics of Kaithapuram Sir, & Hesham's composition will make us fall for it definitely. Manasse Manasse comes at the right juncture in the film to melt away our hearts. Vineeth has sung it so well.

02. Darshana

Vocalists: Hesham Abdul & Darshana
Lyricist: Arun Alat
Rating: 3.5/5

A fresh breezy love ballad that all the younger generation are craving on- DARSHANA. How lucky is Darshana to have a song on her name, right?! this trending romantic number will surely make you tap your feet & snap your fingers. Hesham has brought in all those pomp & colours to the song- which the present gen will like to loop on. He himself sang it to surprise & sounded great too. Arun Alat's lyrics are sublime. There's an aura around Darshana & this song on her is a right fit which is aptly justified.

03. Mukilinte

Vocalists: K. S. Chithra
Lyricist: Kaithapuram
Rating: 5/5

A melanchoic situational which brings down tears in the film. When you lose a friend who has been the best part of your life, helping you out in all terms & suddenly you lose him/her, the void that they have cast will be gruesome. And, suddenly this song in Chithra Chechi's voice plays over at the background & no matter how hard is your heart, it will weep, that's the power in her voice. This song just happens before the interval & it is all set ready to steal your hearts, poke your eyes with sorrow & pain. Kaithapuram Sir's lyrics need a special mention, the legend explian's the reason why he has been celebrated by Mallu audience, the phrases "മുന്നാലെ നീയല്ലേ പിന്നാലെ ഞാനല്ലേ" will have our lauds. Hesham's composition will just take us into trance. And Chithra chechi- needless to sya, she's the best artists that this country has ever produced & her legacy continues. "കേരളയിലൂടെ സ്വന്തം വാനമ്പാടി നമ്മുടെ ചിത്ര ചേച്ചി- ചിത്ര ചേച്ചിയുടെ ശബ്ദം കേരളയിലൂടെ ആഗ്രഹം "
Chithra Chechi

04. Onnaka Munthiri

Vocalists: Vineeth Sreenivasan & Divya Sreenivasan
Lyricist: Vineeth Sreenivasan
Rating: 4/5

A wedding song & that will surely make us dance. Divya sounds too good, I say too good. Her voice makes the song much & much more special. No matter utill another trendy song, this will blast the speaker in almost all wedding songs. Vineeth is an alrounder, his lyrics sound great!

05. Thathaka Theithare

Vocalists: Prithviraj Sukumaran
Lyricist: Kaithapuram
Rating:3.5/5

Song that has a shade of grey in it. Kerala boys having some fun with cigars & alcohol & kuch maja ho jaye, so is this song- ROCKING. Hesham again plays fine, song is'nt too great yet agin not again on boring side too. Prithiviraj is a great singer too- Allahs! I was amused listening to this song, his voice & energy brings back memories from his films. Though the song is'nt professionally sound- it sounds great on ears.

06. Minnal Kodi

Vocalists: Md. Maqbool Mansoor, Hesham, Sachein Warrier & K. S. Chithra
Lyricist: Kaithapuram
Rating: 4.5/5

Is A. R. Rahman here? Hehehe!! Those beats in the song will just remind of Rahman sir, no doubt who's listening it. Hesham has really brought in yet another master piece, instrumentation takes the lead & drives the winning chariot. All the vocalists rock the song with their energy, Kaithapuram fills the song with phrases that speak about "Change, Revolution, Positivism" and many. Suddenly, in between the high voltage song, there's a power cut & there, right there a soft gentle breeze blows over- Chithra Chechi's voice humming few melliflouos alaaps makes the song. She is limited to the humming parts, but cannot deny the fact that she had her mark pellucid. Overall a well made chartbuster.

07. Arike Ninna

Vocalists: Job Kurian
Lyricist: Arun Alat
Rating: 4.5/5

One more situational & this also has my heart. The song starts with few surgums & there is no stopping from there. You'll all love the melody. Hesham is making sure that he'snt deviating from that melodious track, whichever the song is, there is a touch of melody & that is like icing on cake.

SIDE- B

08. Pottu Thotta

Vocalists: Sachin Balu & Megha Josekutty
Lyricists: Kaithapuram
Rating: 3.5/5

Here's a duet that Hridayam wants it's audience to listen too. A good song indeed. Just listen.

09. Nagumomu Ganaleni

Vocalists: Aravind Venugopal
Lyricist: Thyagaraja
Rating: 3/5

Every time I listen to this krithi sung by carnatic musicians, mostly many of them being Tamizhians, I hate it, because of the pronunciation- it is "Nagumomu Ganaleni" (నగుమోము గనలేని ) a telugu word which means "Have you not looked at the distress in my heart for not being able to look at your smiling face?- 'A question by Thyagayya to his lord Rama'". Same, happens here- it is not "Nagu Mo Gana Leni" & many other mistakes- I cannot quote- everything, every word is half- no matter if it is musically correct if your unable to convey the right meaning to the audience. Like Janaki amma- everyone should learn to give importance to lyrics even in a carnatic based song, then only it has it's soul. Language is'nt an issue, just we need that dedication- even the legendary musicains make mistakes singing such krithis which is absolutely sad. Though this krithi in the film comes as a great surprise, didn't impress me- due to issues in pronunciation.

10. Sarvam Sadha

Voaclists: Srinivas
Lyricist: Arun Alat
Rating: 3.5/5

One more great song indeed. You'll will enjoy this in the film. Like the hollywood films, this film too has songs but they are'nt in specific, they go with the flow. Srinivas at vocals, yet another surprise, loved listening to him again. Thankyou Hesham.

11. Puthiyoru Lokam

Vocalists: Vimal Roy & Bhadra Rajin
Lyricist: Kaithapuram
Rating: 4/5

Yet another masterpiece in the film. The second half starts on a great melodious note with this song.It appears like that song from the film '96', but still works. Kaithapuram's magic all around.

12. Kural Kekkutha

Vocalist: Unni Menon
Lyricist: Guna Balasubramanian
Rating: 3.5/5

A tamil song in malayalam cinema, not a new trend- but continues the legacy. The soft toned Unni Menon at vocals & Gana Balasubramaninan at lyrics make it a much better song. Thanks for them.

13. Bas Kar Ji

Vocalist: Sachein Warrier
Lyricist: Bulle Shah
Rating: 4.5/5

A hindi song - yet another surprise. They took a poem of Bulle Shah or Syed Saab, a reneowned Sufi poet from 17th century. By this we understand that Vineeth is diverse enough to get all things into the limelight. This is my favourite too.

14. Hridayam Theme

Instrumental
Rating: 5/5

"No Words"- MASTERPIECE

15. Nagumomu Revival

Vocalists: Swetha Ashok & Aravind Venugopal
Lyricist: Thyagaraja
Rating: 3.5/5

A mash-up of "Manasse X Nagumomu". This appeals than the above version- for it's sense in music, but still I cannot digest the bad pronunciation of words.

Picks Of The Album: Mukilinte, Hridayam Theme, Darshana, Manasse, Bus Kar Ji, Onnaka Munthiri, Minnal Kodi & Arike Ninna

OVERALL RATING: 9/10
