'Varisu' aiming for the 2023 Pongal release starring Thalapathy Vijay is the latest buzz & sensation in the market. Still now, not even trailer released, but still the film is holding success beer with confidence, so let's also wait & see.
S. S. Thamman composes music for Varisu & literally rocked every song. All the 3 songs that got a single release, got tremendous response & also audio launch held on 24, Dec brought the other two songs which too impressed the audience. So, out & out it's a blockbuster album. And I also hope there are few more surprises left unrevealed for us in the film, Soul of Varisu appears incomplete, so for sure, there should be the extension in the film & also expecting one more song in the film. Let's see. As of now, 5 songs all written by Vivek have been released. And here's the review.
01. Ranjithame ⭐
Vocalists: Thalapathy Vijay & M. M. Manasi
Rating: 3.75/5
'Ranjithame' the first ever song released from Varisu, is a super fast number that is an outright entertainer for all the Vijay fans. Thamman knows the pulse of audience, he keeps balancing the stuff in all his projects to entertain all the types of audience. Ranjithame already crossed 100M views! is like creating records. Do you all think is it worth? I'll say yes! There is no fault in this track.
Vijay singing the track made it much more special, as I was saying, this is a treat to all the fans. The instrumentation hits the chords aptly, the beats sound too good. It's been ages listening to kuththu track that too in Tamil flavour, so Thamman at helm mixes those commercial & folk elements to make this audio track sound much more hyped. Vivek is normal, he is fond of writing all this stuff, nothing new from his side. Manasi, the female vocalist sounds damn great, the harmony that comes at the end with a great pace will make one loop the song for hours, kuddos that we have such voices & talent here. It felt like the drums & percussions broke into pieces with the pace, my god- Thamman just rocked! All credits to him. An instant winner in my opinion.
02. Thee Thalapathy ⭐
Vocalists: Silambarasan & Chorus
Rating: 3.25/5
Silambarasan singing 'Thee Thee Thalapathy' & the crackers blastsing behind- 'Wohhooo' what else can match this celebration? Purely, Thamman is catching the audience' pulse, he knows what all to create to all those fans who worship Vijay. A complete fans oriented number, probably the introduction song- I can say one more from Thamman. If you love Vijay you'll love this track, if you don't like him also you'll like this for Simbu, if not for both you'll like this for Thamman, if not for any of them, still you'll enjoy the track. Such is the euphoria in the track.
03. Soul of Varisu ⭐
Vocalist: K. S. Chithra
Additional Vocals: S. S. Thamman (Humming), Rita & Roshni
Rating: 4.25/5
Whaaattt!! We have an emotional- sentimental number in Varisu, that too picturized on thalapathy!! Have to appreciate the guts of team to place such song on the most celebrated mass hero. Thamman is on high, how the heck did he arrange this track? The arrangement in this track is of top notch quality. Lyrics & vocals desrve the laurels. Probably, this is an emotional number on Jayasudha & Vijay, might be Vijay is distanced from his mother for long period & he's coming back, so is the song. What a great situation, any time, everytime, a song on 'Mother- Son' relationship is a special one. Definaitely, after hearing to the track, we will accept that this is the Soul of Varisu, for sure.
Thamman is rocking every song, & this is the best in the album. The arrangement sounded damn good. The mixing in the song however feels like clumsy, but still pretty sure that this song stands out with theatre sounds. Chinna Kuyil Chithra is back to Tamil after many days, that too with a bang. Such a devine voice this lady has got, while she's singing the track, literally the listeners are emotional & outright goosebumps stuff. Amma song & who else can make it sound better than her? Only she, one & only Chithra amma, singing since 40 years or more, but still sounds the same!! Thanks for the song & credits to the vocalist, music director & lyricist too- Vivek wrote some sublime phrases. That humming in the beginning by Chithramma & also backing vocals & Thamman's vocal support is just great. Overall a very well made & soulful song. Aptly titled as soul of varisu!
And the great news to the team is, this song is already topping charts, on 28th Dec 22, Billboard released a list of songs that featured in the 'Hot Trending Songs' chart for the the year 2022, & to a huge surprise this song tops the charts followed by multiple songs from 'Stray Kids' & other songs like 'Dancings' done' & 'Take my breath' 🙌 which must be a celebration to the fans & team, congratulations 👏
04. Jimmiki Ponnu
Vocalists: Anirudh Ravichandran, Jonita Gandhi & Chorus
Rating: 3/5
A stylish number for the contemporaries. Anirudh & Jonita, the rocking combo is back! Thamman is just high, listen to the arrangement - just wow! The sound mixing too is just beyond words! Just a simple rhythm & stylish instrumentation which is not absolutely new, but strikes the chord for the typicality. Anirudh is as usual, the perfect choice for a tailor made song for his tone. A short number but impressed 👍
05. Vaa Thalaiva ⭐
Vocalists: Shankar Mahadevan & Karthik
Additional Vocals: S. S. Thamman, Blue, Deepak, Aravind & Chorus
Rating: 3.25/5
That high voltage song which is sure to make the fans go bonkers. The beats & Chorus does the all magic. May be a background song this is, but still has guts to be a perfect track for the listeners. The thumping rhythm & brilliant influx of a soft melody is just breath taking. Karthik & Shankar Mahadevan take the lead of vocals, but still feel that they're lost in the chorale. Same happened with Soul of Varisu, the sound mixing is too way loud that the lead voices are getting overshadowed, however that's how Thamman composes, that's a different thing, but still feel that the lead voices should get their proper due. But, this song is just rocking. All Vijay's fans must be really happy for this, almost all the songs in album are instant hits, which is a very rare feat for now-a-days albums. Kuddos to Thamman.
Picks of the Album: Thee Thalapathy, Soul of Varisu, Ranjithame & Vaa Thalaiva
