Lata Mangeshkar- Singing Queen

If at all there was a synonym for music, if at all someone stood as an epitome of Bollywood music, if someone sang in thousands for 8 decades non-stop, if someone is hailed as legend, 'The Nightingale of Indian Cinema'- who would it be? None other than the greatest- Lata Mangeshkar ji 🙏

I don't know if at all any normal Indian wouldn't know her & wouldn't have fallen in trap for her prolific voice! I don't believe that there exists someone without tapping their feet & swaying their heads in joy listening to that golden voice. When we talk about legends we talk about Lataji. Is there any possibility to describe her achivements?! She's been the greatest, will remain greatest, she's someone humanly impossible to be recreated, there's only one Lataji & today she's gone, no parallel singer equalling her talent is or will be born, what else someone has left to talk about the -Bharath Ratna!!

Lataji, there is a feeling of numb, totally devastating, emotions are beyond words, a void that you have left us today is irreplaceable. From generations, this voice has been the household name for almost all Indians. From grand parents till our parents till the youngest generation, every one has known you by your sweetest voice & that is something making us totally emotional to realise that & accept that this voice which shook the entire musical world has gone mumb & will never again utter anything!!
When we talk about legends we talk about Lata Mangeshkar!

Here's an article in tribute to the legend!!

01. Lag Jaa Gale

Movie: Woh Kaun Thi? (1964)
Music: Madan Mohan
Lyricist:. Raja Mehdi Ali Khan

"Lag jaa gale ke phir yeh haseen raath ho na ho shaayad phir is janam mein mulaaqaat ho na ho" ❤️❤️
Who wouldn't have sung this 'Shayyari' to their dear ones imitating Lataji & would have terribly failed & ended playing this song & sat for hours looping on the same song again & again. As I already told when we talk about legends we talk about Lataji, but when we talk about legendary songs we talk about "Lag Jaa Gale". My most favourite songs indeed, I love every note of the song. Sadhnaji's beauty, Madanji's absolute brilliant composition, Rajaji's poetry & finally the "Maa Saraswati- Lataji ki aawaz ❤️❤️" a combination made for generations & generations. It's a bet that, we might head a 100 years forward, but still then, we will never find such a song like this !! After Lataji we got to listen to hundreds others, those all tried singing this song, but none, I repeat none could replicate the same magic that Lataji has cast!
🙏Lataji lives on🙏

02. Teri Aankhon Ke Siwa

Movie: Chiraag (1969)
Music: Madan Mohan
Lyricist: Marjooh

What do I have left to talk about this song?! Mohammad Rafi ji & Lataji getting their respective versions & Madan ji at the helm- my god! It gives me goosebumps to even think about the combination. This lovely melody deserves an Oscar & her voice is the voice of almighty- so peaceful & pleasant, that voice is made of gold, it is Nobel- consider it the standard & unprecedented! Lataji love you loads- you'll always be remembered with all the songs.
🙏Lataji lives on🙏

03. Neendiyan Se Jaagi

Movie: Hero (1983)
Music: Laxmikanth-Pyaarelaal
Lyricist: Aanand Bakshi

Isn't this the best song of Lataji ever? My god, this voice ❣️❤️ that's the reason she's the Nightingale Of India! If at all am about to die & asked for a last wish, I would ask for playing this song! I don't think there is something that could ever come in competition to this beauty. I dunno if Laxmikanth-Pyaarelaal did this song with honey, Aanand Bakshi wrote it with golden letters & Lata Thaai sang with her precious tone - but this is the song that every fan of her's will feel proud of & embrace on.
No matter where she is her songs are immortal, hence her soul, she lives on & on with such numbers.
🙏Lataji lives on🙏

04. Aa Laut Ke Aaja

Movie: Rani Roopmathi (1957)
Music: S. N. Tirupati
Lyricist: Bharath Vyas

An epic film, an epic backdrop, an epic composition & the epic vocals. Lataji  & Mukeshji being the most loved Bollywood artists in India are known for their unique style & attitude of renditions, that is evident in their songs & that quality of them makes them so special for all the music lovers. Mukesh Dada singing the male version of this song & Lata Thaayi singing the female version, what more can anyone expect! This song is an absolute bliss in melancholy, tears roll down automatically- no matter when ever you listen to this song. Those songs were something special, simple yet powerful with so much content & never again such songs can be made, that age is gone, but how joyful was that era, how lucky were are ancestors to have had heard to such melodious songs & how lucky are we too , to having yet got access to such treasure. Once again thank you Lataji, for all those beautiful memories.
🙏 Lataji lives on 🙏
05. Jiya Jale

Movie: Dilse (1998)
Music: A. R. Rahman
Lyricist: Gulzaar
Co- Singer: M. G. Sreekumar

It was almost when Lataji was shaping a different Bollywood music with her voice, it's been more than 5 decades already then when she was singing to those contemporary leads- Madhuri Dixit, Rani Mukherjee, Kajol & all, but still she had so much to do with Bollywood & ofcourse Bollywood industry is always indebted for her contributions. But suddenly, in 1998 it was like a flash she collaborated with the ace composer ARR & that combination made wonders. I love this song & her prolific rendition. I still cannot breathe properly when she sings that harmony part of the song towards the end of the song, my goodness! What a range & pitching?!! Only she, only she can do that. Hatsoff Lataji. She's an institution of talent & perfection, there is always so much that she has left for all the aspiring singers to follow & that's great !
🙏Lataji lives on 🙏

06. Yeh Galliyaan

Movie: Prem Rog (1982)
Music: Laxmikant-Pyaarelaal
Lyricist: Santhosh Aanand

One Lata Mangeshkar & only one Lata Mangeshkar, this voice doesn't have any match in this entire universe & this song is that song only made for Lataji & only this lady can sing like this. I don't know, when ever I hear this song, it makes me emotional. And if this song is your favourite, then I can bet you have some unique & great taste of music.
🙏Lataji lives on🙏

07. Raaja Ki Aayegi

Movie: Aah (1953)
Music: Shankar-Jaikishan
Lyricist: Shailendra

Lataji - my beautiful queen of melodies, let you live for another millenium with that golden voice. This song & her expressions, just heart melting. If somebody says that Lata Mangeshkar can just sing melodies without much expressions, this song is like a slipper shot to all of them.' राजकी आयेगी भारात रंगीले होगी रात मगर में नाचूंगी मगर में नाचूंगी ' & still she's dancing with her voice. What a Song, what a composition & what a great way of singing? Hatsoff!
🙏Lataji lives on🙏

08. Ae Mere Watan

Private Album Song (1963)
Music: C. Ramachandra
Lyricist: Kavi Pradeep

Like the former prime minister Pt.Nehuru said, 'Anyone not moved by this song shouldn't be called as a Hindusthani' & this is true in every aspect. As soon as the song starts every Indian is moved & has a heavy heart, once the song is done- tears roll down. That's the impact this song has on audience each time being performed no matter where & how it's being played.

Initially this song was to be sung by Asha Bhosle according to the composers' wish, but Kavi Pradeepji has suggested Ramachandraji to make it sung in the voice of Lataji. Even Ramachandra ji felt it right that no others could justify this song like Lataji, so finalized her voice. But, Lataji refused to sing as she felt she had very less time for the rehearsal during that prime time. But Kavi Pradeepji convinced her to sing it some how.  Finally she accepted to sing. Later Lataji wanted Asha ji also to be a part of this song, even composer was happy with that suggestion, but this time Ashaji refused the offer despite so many insisting her to be a part of it, but somehow after many unforseen incidents, Lataji made it through the final take.
This song sung as a symbol of love & prayers to the martyrs during 1962 Indo Sino war. This was performed by Lataji on 26/01/1963 at National Stadium in New Delhi in presence of President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan & Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. Each time Lataji sings this song, there will be atleast 10s of us in tears, & I really cannot express how I feel right now talking about this song. I feel, how much ever we praise the soldiers, give a tribute still there will be still something left in due to their sacrifices 🙏 Remembering everyone, India salutes the great martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India & also salutations to great Lata Mangeshkar ❤️
🙏Lataji lives on 🙏

This day 06/02/2022- cannot be forgotten, but still trying to forget the loss & saluting the BharathRatna Lata Mangeshkar after a complete year of her going to the heaven & so, recollecting all those beautiful songs that she has sung, especially my favourites of hers, there are many but how many could we discuss now & talking about the legacy left by her for us 🙏❤️
