Movie: The Kerala Story (2023)

Music Label: Sunshine Pictures
' The Kerala Story ' being the most controversial film of today, that's the reason I didn't wanted to review the film. But, while watching this film I noticed that it has got some feel good music & after alot of dubiety, commotion I decided to review the album. Films can go for a toss of hit or flop, it depends on thousand factors, but good music goes on a toss only when music goers or lovers abandon it, so my only aim is to listen to good music & share it with others who tend to have ears for such music.
No where am into this controversial things, I don't wanna now debate about the factual accuracy and all. Just felt nice listening to the songs, so going through the album. If you love listening to good songs & music like me- just go ahead or if you want to pull in controversy into this, just stop here- coz I don't really want to speak about any sensitive things below, just reviewing the album.
01. Aakhir Kyun ⭐
Vocalists: Porshia & Mahalakshmi Iyer
Music: Bishakh Jyothi
Lyricist: Ananth
Rating: 3/5
A beautiful song. Starts with some Opera kind singing & slowly the beats add on to create a vibe. I dunno if that's bazz guitars or Saarangi but that just becomes the hook beat of the song. Mahalakshmi Iyer after so many years! Strange, heard her after a long while. Still she sounds like that Kurrukku Siruthavale singer, her voice hasn't changed any. The song has an excellent rhythm & taal that makes it unique & sonorous. Those beats indicate an Arabic flavour & words have Urudu accent with rendition being Indian - so it's like a homogeneous mixture. This' for a 👍

Vocalist: Sunidhi Chauhan
Music: Bishakh Jyothi
Lyricist: Oozhil Dalal
Rating: 3/5
A film with such sensitivity, suspense, eerie touch will demand such a song no doubt. But according to me this song is formulated, it's made like that because it was ought to be like that. But, something that touches in this number is the typical orchestration - maybe again the Saarangi. Bishakh is just amazing. Sunidhi Chauhan here is again a formula, coz she's known for these sort renditions right. Her Urudu pronounciation is just nearly perfect.

03. Tu Mila ⭐
Vocalist: K. S. Chithra & Oozhil Dalal
Music: Vireesh Sreevalsa
Lyricist: Oozhil Dalal
Rating: 3.5/5
Chithra maa in a Hindi song? In a Hindi film? In 2023? Strange. It's been ages listening to her in Bollywood, I mean a direct Hindi film, ofcourse I do remember that she sang in different Hindi films recently but that happens to be dubbed. This song wins right there where they thought of getting in the veteran singer to croon the track. Her expressions, voice, pitch & accent - all the elements deserve a 10/10. The beauty of this song lies in the thumping kolaatam beats from Kerala & the singing ❤️ Chitramma just proves why she's a legend & also shows why only she should have sung this track. Am happy, thanks to the filmmakers for this song & also compliments to Oozhil Dalal for the lyrics & accompanying the legendary Chithra in the beginning in rendering those Swaras, her accent while uttering 'Khushboo'speaks volumes about her dedication in singing different languages. 👍

04. Aakhir Kyun- Unplugged
Vocalist: Ananth
Music: Bishakh Jyothi
Lyricist: Ananth
Rating: 2.5/5
This'an unplugged cover of the above song. This has a different feel altogether with Ananth rendering it, but I prefer the female version - it sounds too easy for ears.
